What Does “Opportunity”Really Mean?

I often hear people compare their lives to billionaires and really successful people when they make statements like so and so person had really rich parents who gave paved the path for them, gave them money, connections or other nepotistic stuffs with the aim of saying this successful person may not have made it big without the help of their parent or family. While I may agree that coming a financially bouyant family or having mega rich parents could actually boost a person’s growth and finances in life as they may get support easily from these family members when they have ideas and businesses to invest in compared to the majority of people who have to either borrow, apply for loans, work for years and even go through hell to get a a tiny fraction of money needed for the same cause, it is also undeniable that successful people have great eyes for ideas and are seemingly always waiting for an opportunity they can hope to through their preparation for that opportunity just like we the regular folks.

I’ve met individuals who talk about what things they would do if they hit a jackpot buy in reality, they’ll probably lose all the money at the end because they have no plans, aren’t prepared for such opportunities and perhaps would enjoy lavishing their jackpot than worry about how to multiply the money.

So is opportunity the same for us all? Clearly not as with so many things in life. Some of us were born with so many opportunities around us for example born in a country that gives you easy access to almost every country on the planet, access to the best educational systems, coming from a family where you dont have to worry about what you’d eat the next day or going to bed hungry, getting a job or support for business after graduating college etc. Millions and perhaps even billions of people around the world don’t have access to as many opportunities as some have and thats why some of us have to thrive 10 times more, trying to finish college with the best grades, applying 10 times more for jobs, grinding, hustling and learning lots of skills just so we are exposed to more opportunities and hopefully find one or a couple that woulf break us free from the shackles of low opportunities.

This is why I often advise young people like me to seize opportunities available to them and do their best because sadly, tume goes really fast and they may wake up years from now wishing they had utilised all the opportunities available to them now. What are your thoughts on opportunities?
