Still Life Drawing of A Roach

Hi Folks. During my break at work today, I decided to create drawings of insects and the first one that stood out to me was a cockroach. Safe to say i started with one insect i despise alot. I would be making more drawing of insects, bugs, and skulls following this as they are quite challenging to draw butmaking drawings and artworks of them would help sharpen my skills and get me ready for some much more serious artworks.

I started off by drawing the outline of the insect, as getting the shape and form right is essential for the sucess. Afterwards, i began adding tones by shading and highlighting to make the drawing look more realistic. I combined scribbling and hatching techiques for the shading as shading some parts of the the insect like the wings, legs and thorax looks more realistic using hatching than scribbling. This was created using a pen on cardboard paper.
