The Accident Build!

IMG-20220820-WA0073.jpg

Well Hello There Fellow Technicians And Hivers!

The Easiest rebuild of my life, well I suppose it is still a rebuild, I do exactly the same I would for a completely burned out transmission except for changing out the clutches. I mean I am still going to inspect absolutely everything in this build soooo it's a full rebuild anyways!

We tried, or rather they tried! The casing was badly damaged and we tried sending it in for welding, they claimed they could do it but it appears that this was not a success, I mean they say it was but we know better!

We Bought A Scrappie!

Well we actually got one from head office! That is sort of a mess that they didn't want anymore!

So we took it and we are going to rip all the internals out and have a nice pretty thing to work with!

You know one that is not accident damaged!

There is one thing though!

Just one slight little problem!

This casing does not have a hole that leads through the casing where the link needs to push through!

Not a big problem though! We will just make a little spot for it! right!

Get that drill!

The Tedious Part

This is for a fact the most tedious part!

Getting everything nice and clean and I mean this takes up a whole lot of time!

Far too much if you ask me! And here is the catch! It just has to get done, there is no skipping it or working your way around it! Just dig in and do the job!

Now I like to clean everything out before I start removing the bushes because everything has this thin coat of powder on it and I just have to get that shit out of the way!

This is what I'm referring to!

Now leave this on and you'll be grey by the end of the day! You wont be wiser though!

Some Swapping Out!

Now there is some swapping out! Since this transmission has 300k plus kilometers on it wear has started crawling in almost everywhere! So I will swap out a few drums here and there and then we are going to do the bushes! They are all worn to shit!

For the clearance they have I am surprised that this wagon actually drove! Laughs! It's hectic but drove it did!

Now that the bushes have come I can finally start fitting them all back and actually start to work with the clutches!

Getting all the stacks ready and set to be fitted back into the transmission!

That is going to be a fun build! Always nice doing it the right way!

Sheeeeesssshhhhh What a day!

Now most of this is prepped and ready to be fitted into the transmission! However the day ran short and this was left over for today!

So today I did managed to finish up on the build! In between the sessions I also managed to build another transmission for a Ford! Oh this is for a BMW forgot to mention that one!

One weird thing about the BMW's that I never managed to get was why this one clutch friction burns up!

It's literally only this one!

But replacing that one we have to buy a whole new clutch set!
Well at-least we are stacking up on the rest of the clutches though! So soon we might be able to help someone that is in dire need of it!

Well she is done! We can rest easy now! I don't have to worry about this one anymore!

Take note this is not a how to guide, merely myself talking about the work I do and my thoughts around certain things.
