It's Not A Matter Of Upsale It's A Matter Of Quality! (Listen To The Techs!)

Well Hello There Fellow Technicians And Hivers!

The Critical Part Of Not Adhering!

Well I don't think it's a matter of adhering I think it's more a matter of people don't always understand how things work and why we techies do what we do!

So we've booked in a Volvo some time ago and we told them that we we're going to do a rebuild on the transmission. We have our reasons why, the thing is they didn't want that and rather went for a scrapyard transmission...

Okay sure they are 70% of the time not in a bad condition... But not this one!

We fitted the transmission and well we had to eventually remove it again!

Check that out!

Look at all the gunk above the oil filter!

Not good!

Another thing wonky, the pickup magnets that reads the gear speed and in what gear it is are also absolutely smothered in metal shavings!

Metal shavings packed up on the range sensor of the transmission as well, not that it would make much of a difference but what I am pointing out is that the entire transmission is covered with metal shavings!

What We'll Be Doing!

So we are going to rebuild the clutch stack on this transmission and the other thing that is my baby to take care of on this job is the valve-body!

Now we didn't actually book this for the job, but bossman has a saying and it goes like this... We know chocolates and we know shit and this ain't chocolates! So we are going to pull this valve body open and give it a nice cleaning up!

The Pressure Sensors!

Now this is like the two main blood veins on the transmission! Absolutely something that you want cleaned out!

Also you don't want these to look as they do in the pictures! Not good for the health of the computer at all!

I know of people that take grit paper and grind that shit off! Also not good!

Let's dive in deeper and split this valve body open! It should be a little cleaner since we've already fitted it and poured in fresh oil!

Keep in mind that the fresh oil isn't so fresh anymore ey!

As Expected!

I have to say this is looking as expected! This valve-body is all flushed out now and things can't get any better here, I mean it can a little but it's pretty clean!

Now keep in mind that most of that gunk probably sits nice and tight all up in the filter! That is not at all good!

Too bad we wont be replacing that because they only want fixed what is problematic!

These little high pressure solenoids might lead down to some problems! Especially after we try to clean them out! But let's hope not because I genuinely don't want to be removing anything from this transmission again! I am sick of it!

We do have a bunch we can swap out though but let's hang in there and see what happens xD!

A Pretty Sight For Sore Eyes!

Now this I am content with! Absolutely content with!

I just love staring at these beautifull things especially when they are all cleaned up and looking like new!

I have to say there is some PT behind this because once cleaned you have to test out all the valves inside the body to make sure they aren't sticky. These were all good in case any of you wondered!

All Ready And Cleaned!

Now for this to go back to where it belongs!

It's still sometime before this transmission is fitted back into place! But let's hope it works out for the better and that this vehicle is all fixed up! Well at-least for now!
