How Can Steel Trick?

Well Hello There Fellow Technicians And Hivers!

Error Made!

Well this is something new, I mean my first real fuckup (Or so we thought) but also the first real head scratcher! I mean this was a weird one!

So I was building this transmission last week and Friday morning we fitted it back it back into the truck and it drove completely fine until Monday morning came when we wanted to put it down on the road some more.

It had absolutely no power at all, clutches kept slipping and to remove the problem you had to shut off and restart the vehicle, then it drives for a few meters.

Of-course naturally we fiddled with the valve body and then we saw the exact same error with a new valve body so we decided to pull out the transmission because we saw a lot of metal shavings in the oil!

We've Seen Worse!

Okay which is very irrelevant! Since we did a rebuild on this transmission.... There should be no steel whaat so ever and if there is we did something wrong right?

So we absolutely have to tear this whole thing down again and start from the top! It is what it is!

Here you can see some of the clutches that wore off as well! Damn This might be a bad as hell break!!

The Big Concern!

Now truthfully this might be the biggest concern that I have!

I am really biting back and hoping that this entire pump assembly is still in a good condition! Damn! If anything not this pump!

The thing is we don't have parts to replace on them and that means buying new parts! Which is a big mehhhh! But if so we have to!

Now it's to strip every drum individually to see what might have gone wrong in this build!

Damn and everything went smoothly the spacing between the bushes and shafts as well as the clutch clearances! Everything was just right!

Everything Is In Spec!

This is a weird one! Everything seems to be in spec! There is not even one bush damaged... Which is the biggest concern that I have! Where does all the steel come from!?

I tripple checked every bush and every thrust washer as well as every surface taking load or mating with another surface!

I don't see any problems at all! I even tore down the oil pump housing and that also looked pretty decent! No worries there!

Is it possible that something might just have gotten stuck and got let out while the vehicle was operated and maybe just maybe it caused some troubles?

Unlikely but also very likely!

Well Are We Slapping It Together?

I mean I don't see any problems at all!

So here is what I am going to do! Rebuild everything and at the same time do another inspection and then we are going to change the torque converter and hopefully this problem is electric or just completely removed all together!

Oh that would be a blast!

So let's get building!
