Luka the Horse

Nothing prepared me for such a day. If someone had told me such a day would come I would have prepared on time and worried less all this time.

Luka my beautiful white horse had been sick for months, one of his legs was severely damaged as a result of the number of falls he had suffered.
It was tough seeing my precious baby suffer so much pain but I was confident that he was going to be fine regardless of what the vet had told us.

I couldn’t enjoy Luka’s company as I usually did, he became too weak for long rides and too gloomy for our usual activities. Watching my once active and playful horse become frail, was so hard.
Regardless of the diagnosis, I had faith in Luka, just like he had overcome the previous illness he had battled with years ago, he was going to get through this too.

While tending to him and making sure he took his medicine, I made sure he was warm and well-fed at all times.
A few weeks after Dr. Bass visited Luka, my friend Barry from high school visited and surprisingly, he came with his horse too.
I stood at the barn, observing Luka, and out of the blue, I heard a loud neigh from the entrance of our compound. Without delay, Luka answered with a soft neigh and attempted to get up from the floor by himself which was new.

Intrigued by the noise, I went to check which horse made the sound and to my delight, it was my friend’s horse, Hajin.
I smiled the moment I saw Luka make his way out of the barn to where Hajin was.

Dancing in delight, Luka attempted to rear at the beautiful horse in front of him.
I leaped with joy because this was the most I had seen Luka do in months. Luka and Hajin exchanged pleasantries like they had known each other for a long time.

I was happy and didn't fail to extend my gratitude to my friend for bringing his horse along.

What I see in the above picture is a picture of two happy horses, one trying to rear at the other one.

What I feel in the picture is that both horses are happy to have been reunited again.
