Android vs. iOS?

Android vs. iOS?

Disclaimer: The writer has never used an iOS device before. He has only lived the experience through other people.

Where does one begin to compare these things? I have heard people argue which I the better devices, but it is only from emotional perspectives. In most cases, I see the argument for iOS by some people as based on classism. One time I told my friend I prefer using android, he said that I'm only trying to spite him because I'm poor and only trying to make myself feel good. Is it true? Maybe. Maybe not.

I bought my POCO M3 in July 2021. I still use it.

Round 1: Affordability
Like it or not, this factor decides for many people which is better between android phones and iOS devices. In 2021 when I got my phone, it was NGN 72,000. A Nigeria used iPhone 12 cost nothing less than 200,000. Back then, I really wished I could get an iPhone, but I didn't have the means. I bought the one I could afford. Android is therefore more accessible and affordable.

Android 1-0 iOS

Round 2: Durability
Which is more durable? Which if the two will not give you a heart attack when it falls? Wait, let me tell you something. My Poco M3 used to have a corning gorilla glass screen. It's very strong. Whenever I wanted to prove to someone I used a good phone, I'll hold my phone some inches above the ground and let it fall face down. It was always fine, the screen, every time I did that. Can you try that with an iPhone? Do you really want to try?

Round 3: Maintenance
Now, you will agree with me that Apple Inc. is doing very well by rolling out timely software updates. Some android users don't even know that they can update their system from time to time because the updates are not regular. How then do you fix a software problem on an android phone?

Round 4: Battery Life, Camera and other Associated Differences
Peep the 6000mAh in the first picture of this post. Can iOS users relate? I guess not. But in terms of camera quality? The iPhone beats android flawlessly, although their are some android devices like Samsung S23 and S25, that beat the iPhone in terms of picture quality. The iPhone is also more secure due to its unique encryption. Android on the other hand is an open-source software. It is susceptible to malware.

Android 2-2 iPhone

I conclude. Android devices are good if you're buying on a tight budget. It has great options too: memory space, good phone speakers, good camera quality, etc, but I still want to use an iPhone, though.

Over time, I have decided to stop engaging in iPhone/android arguement. I think it should be based on what one can afford. As a matter of fact, there are many android that can compete with most iPhones, but they are not cheap either. I simply think the price of iPhones suit their features, and androids with similar features will be expensive as well

I like the debate situation you put up and the disclaimer too, haha.
This is what really happens, I mean the, argument between the two. Many just jump to the iOS because of the vibe others put to it without even knowing what they're looking for. It should a matter of preference, because there are android phones that highly compete with the iOS in variety of ways.

A lot of android phones compete with the iPhone. But again, if we're being honest, it's not the phone Apple sells, it's the lifestyle, and since we live in an ostentatious society, everyone wants to grab a piece of that lifestyle.

Thanks for stopping by.
