South Punjab of Pakistan Submerged

The land of southern Punjab is submerged in water. Thatched houses have been swept away, countless livestock have been washed away, farmers' standing crops have been destroyed, villages have been devastated, children deprived of roofs are staring at the sky, and mothers without any means are sighing over empty pots.😭

Several thousand people of Khan Bela (Jalalpur Peerwala tehsil) are currently under water. Thousands of people are stranded helpless, but unfortunately, not a single rescue boat has been able to reach them for the last forty-eight hours. The government's loud and clear claims have remained limited to papers, while in reality, people are struggling between life and death. 😭

But amidst all this, a spectacle is going on in all its glory and that is the election for a seat in the Senate. It seems as if the people's sufferings have no reality for the state's chambers. 😭It is as if a procession dances in the middle of a burning village, as if a tabla and shehnai are played by the side of a funeral procession wrapped in a shroud.

The people cried, their homes were swept away, but the chess of the game of power did not stop even for a moment. 😭The people of South Punjab ask, is our life worthless? Is the heat of our breath less than the coldness of a seat? Will the tears of our children be drowned in the noise of the drums and cards of democracy?

Seeing all this, it seems that the real priority in our system is neither the people nor their suffering. The real priority is only the chair, the chair that is considered stronger and more sacred than dreams that are washed away in the flood. 😭

Oh my Wasib has sunk, thousands of people are stranded, rescue operations are limited to a symbolic level, people are helpless😭😭, the situation is extremely bad, God willing, a human tragedy can occur😭😭 May God save the unfortunate people of my Wasib😭😭

جنوبی پنجاب ڈوب گیا

جنوبی پنجاب کی دھرتی پانی میں ڈوبی پڑی ہے۔ کچّے مکان بہہ گئے، لاتعداد مویشی پانی کی نذر ہو گئے، کسانوں کی کھڑی فصلیں برباد ہو گئیں، گاؤں کے گاؤں اُجڑ گئے، چھتوں سے محروم بّچے آسمان کو تک رہے ہیں اور بے سرو سامان مائیں خالی برتنوں میں آہیں پکاتی ہیں۔😭 لیکن اس سب کے بیچ ایک تماشا اپنی پوری رعنائی کے ساتھ جاری ہے اور وہ ہے سینیٹ کی ایک سیٹ پر الیکشن۔ یُوں لگا جیسے ریاست کے ایوانوں کے لیے عوام کے دُکھ کوئی حقیقت ہی نہ رکھتے ہوں۔ 😭 یہ ایسے ہی ہے کہ جیسے جلتے ہوئے گاؤں کے بیچ کوئی باراتی ناچتا رہے، جیسے کفن میں لِپٹے جنازے کے پہلو میں کوئی طبلہ اور شہنائیاں بجائے۔ عوام رُل گئے، ان کے آشیانے بہہ گئے مگر اقتدار کے کھیل کا شطرنج ایک لمحے کو بھی نہ رُکا۔ 😭 جنوبی پنجاب کے لوگ سوال کرتے ہیں کہ کیا ہماری زندگی کی کوئی قیمت نہیں؟ کیا ہماری سانسوں کی حرارت ایک نشست کی ٹھنڈی کرسی سے کم ہے؟ کیا ہمارے بچّوں کے آنسو جمہوریت کے ڈھول تاشوں کے شور میں دب جائیں گے؟ یہ سب دیکھ کر یُوں لگتا ہے کہ ہمارے نظام میں اصل ترجیح نہ تو عوام ہیں اور نہ ہی اُن کے دُکھ۔ اصل ترجیح صرف کرسی ہے، وہ کرسی جو سیلاب میں بہہ جانے والے خوابوں سے زیادہ مضبوط اور مُقّدس سمجھی جاتی ہے۔ 😭

خان بیلہ (تحصیل جلالپور پیروالا) کی کئی ہزار آبادی اس وقت پانی کے نرغے میں ہے۔ ہزاروں لوگ بے یار و مددگار پھنسے ہوئے ہیں مگر افسوس کہ گزشتہ اڑتالیس گھنٹوں سے ایک بھی ریسکیو کشتی اُن تک نہ پہنچ سکی۔ حکومت کے بلند و بانگ دعوے محض کاغذوں تک محدود رہ گئے ہیں جبکہ حقیقت میں لوگ زندگی اور موت کے بیچ سسک رہے ہیں۔ 😭
