a little bit about the ligthhouse
Ned Point Light as it is official called I believe is a historic lighthouse on Ned's Point Road in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts.
The lighthouse was built in 1838 at a cost of approximately $5,000, and named after Ned Dexter, a local farmer. Supervised by a local builder, Leonard Hammond, the lighthouse was constructed with a birdcage-style lantern similar to Bird Island Light found in Marion, Massachusetts.
All the stone used for the construction of the lighthouse was locally sourced, with most of it originating from nearby beaches.
Inside, Which I didn't get to see, are 32 granite steps that are cantilevered to the outside wall without the use of mortar. The original lantern used 11 whale oil lamps, each with its own parabolic reflector. And like other lighthouses I have read up on around here the Whale oil no doubt came from the New Bedford Whaling ships.
The Great Blizzard of 1888 significantly damaged the keeper's stone house, resulting in it being demolished and the building of a wooden replacement.
Following modernization in 1961, the lighthouse was reactivated in 1961 with its current 6-second isophase.
It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Wednesday Walk is a challenge started by me, the idea is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start. And this is my entry for this week, but first, let me explain the challenge.
This is my post for the Wednesday Walk challenge hosted by myself, let me first explain the guidelines
Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.
Your walk does not have to be on a Wednesday I just ask if possible to share your walk photos on a Wednesday.
Try and get a few shots not just one
Add a bit of a write up about where you walked
Just one Wednesday Walk tagged post a week
You can look for anything in general or decide on one subject you want to get shots off.
Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss
Do a post with the shots you get on a Wednesday and tag it with #wednesdaywalk, also if you happen to join, please leave a link to your post in a comment on this post and I will try and visit them all, especially if its not one of the first 5 tags or I may miss seeing it .
Following me and re-Hiving the post so more see it would be appreciated but isn't a rule just a suggestion.
I am not strict on these rules and hence why they are called guidelines and not rules
I will try and visit, and upvote all who take part in the Wednesday Walk.

.Great pics😍Was this in the place where you reside? Cause you always shares a lot of beautiful spot, that must be a great place to have options where to walk. Thanks for sharing and walking us through this lighthouse history and take care of your health😊 Have a nice day😌
Neds Point is about a 20 minute drive, but yes i am lucky many beautiful spots fairly close to where i Live
What a cute little light house! My sister and her husband have been traveling around the state this summer visiting a lot of the numerous great lakes lighthouses we have.
I have heard they have so many lighthouses there, I would love to do a big road trip just going from lighthouse to lighthouse, but my wife isnt up to travellign like thta
It would be quite the undertaking. They are spread all over and the distances are pretty far. Then you have all the ones on the other side of the lakes too!
Yeah, probably will never happen but hey dreams are free ;)
@tattoodjay Good morning friends, I hope you are all well. The morning atmosphere is so beautiful, the lighthouse is good and sturdy even though it is old. Thank you very much. Greetings. Happy days.
Thanks kindly your support is appreciated
Have a great day
I hope your eye gets better soon. It could be an allergy; my mother gets that when there are strange things flying around in the air. With some special drops, it gets much better.
I'm a huge fan of lighthouses. How beautiful! And how beautiful is the path when you can see the lighthouse at the end of it. Thank you for this walk, and take care of that eye!
The Dr gave me an ointment and antibiotics so hopefully they will do the trick quickly
Thanks kindly your support is appreciated

Pozdrav i sve najbolje!
Absolutely beautiful pictures, am loving the blue skies and what a wonderful place to get the steps in. Hopefully the doctor helps with the swollen eye, and you feel much better as the weekend approaches. Thank you for sharing and stay blessed :}

Photography Lovers does not allow me to comment on your posts, so I decided to write here.
Age is a relative thing. I still feel like the same young guy, especially if my children and grandchildren are with me. My youngest daughter is 17 years old, my eldest granddaughter will soon be 18 years old. But I should be on par with them in age, not an old grumpy fart.
I cvan relate I most of the time feel I am younger than I am, but some days my body doesnt listen to my brain lOL
