Way Way back Wednesday Walk in NYC

Way Way back Wednesday Walk in NYC

This post if for Wednesday walk challenge
Any questions about the challenge read the guide at the Bottom of the post ;)

As the title suggest this is a way way back walk from 2019, it was inspired by a comment I just replied to where I said perhaps I have gotten soft since I retired, back when I worked in NYC I was up early every morning and off to catch the train into NYC where I was working, and before going to the office I would get to the city an hour or two early and walk around and explore the city before work no matter the weather, well not if it was pouring rain, but whatever the temp I would get a walk in, nowadays if the temp isnt 45 or better I generally stay indoors and warm, maybe i need to push myself a bit, but I am sure my wife wont be so keen on that with having had a few bouts of Pnuemonnia and after last years surgery which slowed me down a bit she doesnt like me going out when its to cold.

But lets get to the photos as much as I hated the crowds in NYC I did love the buildings and bridges, this one is I believe the Manhattan Bridge

The terminal for the Staten Island Ferry, in all my time in NYC i only took the ferry and checked out Staten Island once, back when I first arrived in NYC, I took a bit to adjust to having weekends off, coming from the field where i worked 7 days a week, so I set myself a goal to walk by every subway station in the city, I put a subway map on the wall of my apartment and crossed them off once i had been by them, not counting riding through them in a train, only if i walked by the entrance to the subway stop.

Took a while but I eventually ticked them all off walking for hours every Saturdya and sunday, I sure got to know the city well, when I ticke doff the last one i noticed a mention of Staten island so the next week I took the feryr over and walked around it.

A pity bakc then I had not got back into photography

Wednesday Walk is a challenge started by me, the idea is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start. And this is my entry for this week, but first, let me explain the challenge.

This is my post for the Wednesday Walk challenge hosted by myself, let me first explain the guidelines

Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.

Your walk does not have to be on a Wednesday I just ask if possible to share your walk photos on a Wednesday.

Try and get a few shots not just one

Add a bit of a write up about where you walked

Just one Wednesday Walk tagged post a week

You can look for anything in general or decide on one subject you want to get shots off.

Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss

Do a post with the shots you get on a Wednesday and tag it with #wednesdaywalk, also if you happen to join, please leave a link to your post in a comment on this post and I will try and visit them all, especially if its not one of the first 5 tags or I may miss seeing it .

Following me and re-Hiving the post so more see it would be appreciated but isn't a rule just a suggestion.

I am not strict on these rules and hence why they are called guidelines and not rules

I will try and visit, and upvote all who take part in the Wednesday Walk.

I hope a few of you may find this an interesting challenge and decide to join in.

unless stated otherwise all photos used in my posts are taken and owned by myself, if you wish to use any of my images please contact me.

How are you dear friend @tattoodjay
I think you are doing very well in taking care of your health by staying at home when the temperature is cold, there will always be better days to take pictures; remember that health always comes first
What a beautiful photographic memory of New York
The shot of the reflection in the water of the building is very beautiful
Have a great day

New York City is a modern city with many high-rise buildings. I like that the bridge was built a long time ago but is still sturdy, nice picture you took. Like it. Thank you happy days.

Wowww I loved today's ride!!!! Did you work in an office? It gave you free time for walks, that's great. The second picture is my favourite, what a beautiful reflection.

But now you must take care of yourself, your wife is absolutely right, health is first without it there is no walking...first things first. Take care of yourself and thanks for this walk!

Ah yes, all the food carts! So scary and delicious all at the same time! I think it's cool how most big buildings like that have names.

A lovely walk through the city a while back.
Times change… don’t be to harsh on yourself. Enjoy retirement and go out during good weather. Especially after the surgery and being sick.
Have a great day 😎

Wow! It has been so many years since I've been to the city... Back in the day I was never a picture taker, more an enjoyer of the views. At the time I thought they would stay in my head forever, boy I was wrong! Great shots you have there. I hope it warms up soon!

Awesome throwback #wednesdaywalk

I set myself a goal to walk by every subway station in the city

That is impressive! Very cool way to explore the city. Vermont has 252 towns we have a book and are checking them off as we visit but just got started.
