Sublime and Beautiful Sunday some light painting

Sublime and Beautiful Sunday some light painting

This post is for #SublimeSunday is inspired by @c0ff33a and #BeautifulSunday is initiated by @ace108.
Now I know for some these shots I will share today may not be sublime some may consider them silly, and some may also question beautiful, but I feel they fit for both so here they are

I have slipped some light painting shots into other posts but havent done a post just on light painting for a while, perhaps because i havent been out light painting for ages, well since the temps dropped, it needs to be pretty dark to do them and in the early morning for a few weeks now the temps have bene to cold for my old bones and lungs to be out and abouttaking photos.

These shots were from my last time out doing light painting

That morning I went to the fort and walked aroudn to the side of the fort i usually head to first and got this shot

And some have asked what is light painting and how I do it

Lightpainting is a photographic technique in which exposures are made mostly long exposures so you need your camera on a steady surface such as a tripod. and by moving a hand-held light source this can be to to illuminate a subject, create light patterns, or to shine a point of light directly at the camera, another way is by moving the camera itself during exposure, something i havent tried intentionally myself, I have sometimes moved my camera while taking a long exposure and got some funky effects.
and for many me included, although I do edit all my photos I do not add any effects while edited just fine tune what a managed to catch.

For my light sourse I have two RGB critter flashlights, that can be set to shine in a variety of colors or patterns of colors, and some attachments I connect to these.

Each time I go out I am trying to get better with the images i create and i would like to think I am doing better than when I started but then I see some amazing light painting effects created by others and it inspires me to keep practicing and hopefully improving

I took quite a few in that area, and then walked to another spot and found a big puddle by the fort which I was pleased to see as it would allow me to catch both light painting and reflections

quite happy with how these ones came out by the puddle, wish I had got to this spot earlier and not taken so many at the other side of the fort, the light was picking up so I had limited time to get shots in this spot

These are really neat. I have never seen or heard this technique before. Well I have maybe seen it, but just didn't realize it. So cool, it reminds me of modern Christmas decor.
