Black and white images at the port

Blizzard update about 16 inches if snow so far are 70mph wind gusts
But and I hope not tempting fate we still have power but the storm is going to keep going fir a few more hours

Good Morning, I hope you all had a good weekend, ours was nice and quiet just how I like it :)

Now I normally do Mono Monday Posts, and often talk about the difference between Monochrome and Black and white, but this week I decided to be a little different and went with all B&W images for this post.

These were all taken on walks at the Port here in New Bedford, I find I often get shots here that I feel would work well in Mono or B&W, well strictly speaking Black and White is a style of Mono :)

DStarting with this cool Sculpture at the port

It was installed in 2016

It is said to be celebrating the sacrifices of fishermen and their families.

The symbolism of the statue is not lost in New Bedford, which is still the number one fishing port in the United States, and with recently a fishing boat being lost it highlights the stress on the families of the fishermen going out on the boats

The statue depicts a father passing a hat to his son with his daughter clinging to his shirt while his wife looks on.

Sculptor Erik Durant said, "One of the things that I feel about the sculpture, is that lots of different families are going to relate to this."

It is difficult to tell if the fisherman in the sculpture is departing or returning from a trip at sea, which was intentional by Durant.

He wanted it to remain ambiguous because, "either way, the scene is the same."

Next up looking over some of the docks, the Police and fire rescue boats inthe foreground and the larger commercial boats further back

That's an awesome sculpture. I think what I like the most about it is the fact that it is kind of modern. Most of the time when you see statues like that they are fairly old, but this one seems like it could be a replica of scene you would see today.

I love that statute, it comes out so nicely in mono. And the harbor looks almost ghostly in black and white in the morning. The only thing missing is fog! Great job on the pictures today!

How did the storm treat you?
