back at the zoo

back at the zoo

This post is for #SublimeSunday is inspired by @c0ff33a and #BeautifulSunday is initiated by @ace108.

And yet again I am sharing shots from a visit tot he zoo, but at Least this week I had better luck and am sharing some shots of animals there.

The other day my wife was getting her hair colored, and that takes about an hour, so I dropped her off at the salon and headed to buttonwood Park, I was thinking of walking around the pond and seeing if I could catch any shots of birds, but the best laid plans didn't work out yet again, they are still doing a lot of work at the pond area in the park and the parking area I wanted to park at was closed off so I headed to the zoo instead

and for once my timing was good as while i was there I happened to catch one of the team feeding some of the animals, and finally got some better shots of the beavers, normally they are hiding away in a corner with their backs to me when I go there so I was a happy camper to get some shots of them

SO let me start with this shot, he or she was happily munching away on a cookie and looking up at me

And this is another the bald eagles have also been hiding from me on previous visits, but I managed to catch this one right in the far back corner of its cage one of them also having a cookie

The bald eagles had also been hiding from me on recent visits, but on this visit I managed to catch this shot of one of them it was right at the far back corner of the cage

Next up is the Coyote, one of the zoo staff members had just fed it and was patting it and talking to a couple of visitors as I took this shot

And finishing off with a shot of a Bobcat

the zoo is always a great place to bring the big lens , to catch those that are hiding in far away corners .

That hour at the salon turned into great timing at the zoo. Getting the beavers mid snack is a rare catch, they usually act like pros at hide and seek. Does the zoo post feeding times so you can aim for them next visit, and what kind of cookies do they give the beavers and the eagle?

NOt sure on the type of cookies they were quite hard but of course softened up inthe water
I think I saw a sign once with feedign times, but didnt pay attention I must check it on my next visit there

Makes sense. Maybe they were those dense chow biscuits that soften once wet. Did the beavers dunk them first or just crunch right away? If you spot that feeding sign, you might catch the coyote or bobcat at their busiest, and do you know if the eagle gets fish or meat?

they did a mix of dunking and chewing :)
I didnt see them feeding the eagles maybe next time

Dunk and chew sounds like peak beaver table manners. Those hard cookies must taste better after a quick soak. If you spot an eagle feed next time, that’ll be a sweet bonus.

Good morning, Mr. @tattoodjay

It's great that you took advantage of your time waiting for your wife to visit the beautiful zoo they have there.

You were able to take some very beautiful shots.

Have a beautiful Sunday.

They look adorable. It's my first time to see a bald eagle and a bobcat. Nice captured and they aren't scary tho.

Beavers and bald eagles, you might think we are in a Canadian/American political post!

Funny to think we have beavers, ducks, coyotes and even bobcats in the wild up here close to or even in town.

Neat trip and connection to nature!

I loved the eagle and the lynx, but that coyote behind bars looks very sad (a zoo thing)... The photographs are very good, brother, thank you very much as always for sharing your work.

The bald eagle always look majestic though this one looks a bit sad.
Maybe it's the cage.
