A walk on the Phoenix Rail trail

A walk on the Phoenix Rail trail

Still snowed in, but i hope they guy who we pay to clear our snow makes it here ytoday, plows came down our street yesterdy evening, but the snow levels were to high for them to really cope with, they jut took off a top layer and havent bene back, so the road is barely passable, and I just thought, even if the snow guy gets here theres only a partially cleated one lane part of the road in front of our house so he could not park to clear our yard.

Which has me thinking perhaps I need to cleared part of the driveway from the street, so if he comes he could pull in and park and then clear the rest and the footpaths, would make sense but I am not looking forward to doing it and i know my wife will be very against me doing that with my health issus, but lets see how the day goes

This post if for Wednesday walk challenge
Any questions about the challenge read the guide at the Bottom of the post ;)

The Mattapoisett Rail Trail, which I noticed today on mps is shown as the Phoenix Rail trail, runs west to east for approximately 2 miles with paved sections through woodlands and elevated bridges over sensitive coastal marshes and beach. It connects directly to Fairhaven’s Phoenix Trail’s 4.5 miles so you can bike, walk, or jog for over six miles on this flat, easy path.

Its a real nice spot, and one I plan to visit again soon, theres a car park which always has plenty of space when I head there early morning, and walking first through some trees either side then alongside the water on one side and the marsh on the another is always a nice refreshign walk, and a bonus when as it was the day I took these shots there is a nice sunrise.

Heres one spot with trees either side and you can see its a nice wide pathway

Many people ride there bikes along the trail, and since I have been riding my exercise bike each morning, It go me thinking how it would be cool to have a bike and ride this whole trail, and the fairhaven one that joins it one day.

Now I do have a bike, my wife and I got bikes maybe 5 years ago, we rode them a few times that year, but we made the mistake of buying a vhepa bike, and it really didnt stay together well and now is in our garage covered by other stuff, I have bene etmpted at times to get an e_bike, to load into my car and head out to this and some other trails and check them out, now that I have bene riding the exercise bike, I dont know I need an ebike, although it may be handy if I get carried away riding way down and trail and then struggle to get back, or if the trail has any hills, but there not cheap and i was also need to either get a gfolding one, or a bike rack thingy for the car, so not sure that will ever happen

you may thing its not that well used, but I generally try to get shots without people, which I know is a mistake sometimes showing people would add to the photo, and also and more relevant, perhaps, often I am walking there before sunrise when its dark, I guerss more come out walking or riding when it slight out

Wednesday Walk is a challenge started by me, the idea is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start. And this is my entry for this week, but first, let me explain the challenge.

This is my post for the Wednesday Walk challenge hosted by myself, let me first explain the guidelines

Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.

Your walk does not have to be on a Wednesday I just ask if possible to share your walk photos on a Wednesday.

Try and get a few shots not just one

Add a bit of a write up about where you walked

Just one Wednesday Walk tagged post a week

You can look for anything in general or decide on one subject you want to get shots off.

Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss

Do a post with the shots you get on a Wednesday and tag it with #wednesdaywalk, also if you happen to join, please leave a link to your post in a comment on this post and I will try and visit them all, especially if its not one of the first 5 tags or I may miss seeing it .

Following me and re-Hiving the post so more see it would be appreciated but isn't a rule just a suggestion.

I am not strict on these rules and hence why they are called guidelines and not rules

I will try and visit, and upvote all who take part in the Wednesday Walk.

I hope a few of you may find this an interesting challenge and decide to join in.

unless stated otherwise all photos used in my posts are taken and owned by myself, if you wish to use any of my images please contact me.

Don't overdo it. Take breaks. Rest if you need to. In fact don't do it if you can afford to pay a local kid to do it instead. We usually pay neighborhood kids to do ours.

MY wife said exactly the same, we do have a guy we use and he was finally able to get out of his place and came buy, took him and two people with him over 2 and a half hours to clear our place, and looked such hard work glad I listened to my wife ;)

The photos of the trail convey calm; it's a beautiful place and would be incredible by bike (even though I don't know how to ride a bike). As for clearing the snow, your wife is probably right; you can do it without putting your health at risk. I hope everything continues to go well. Have a nice Wednesday outing and thank you for creating this space.

I always enjoy your photos of this trail. It's really well put together. My wife would love to have something like that close to where we live. She'd be on it every day.

I would definitely ride my bike more if I had trails like that near me. My wife has bad ankles from all the sports she played when she was younger, so walking on a flat even surface is important for her. One twist the wrong way and she is down for half a month.

Sorry to hear about your wifes ankles, for me its my knees but they seem to be handling the exercise bike fine

Thanks, she still gets out, we've actually talked about buying some good hiking boots for both of us since we have been doing more trail walks lately.

How are you, my dear friend @tattoodjay?

I'm sorry the snowplow didn't do a good job and left so much snow in front of your house. I hope the guy who helps you with that gets here soon; your wife is right, it's not a good idea for you to do it yourself with your health issues. Be patient.

Have a great day.

Good day, Mr. @tattoodjay

I hope they can clear all the snow soon so you can park your car and drive on the streets.

What a lovely place! I'd love to walk there and see some beautiful sunrises.

What beautiful photos!

Love the nice morning colors in the photos. Our bikes are up on a shelf which makes it a major hassle to get them down and ride... so they don't get used 🙁 Hopefully you get dug out of the snow soon. The local evening news showed a caravan of 19 state snowplows heading south from Vermont to help in the cleanup 🙂

I hope the snow melts soon so you can go out and enjoy the warm days. And I was thinking about those bicycles—riding them in those places must be fabulous! I love the photos of those rides!

It sounds like you're having quite the winter adventure! That Mattapoisett Rail Trail looks like such a peaceful place for a walk, especially with that beautiful sunrise. I hope the snow plows make it to your street soon so you can stay warm and safe inside.
I've never had a bike, besdies I would find the hills round where I live to be a tough challenge with my level of fitness! I'll stick to walking.

Ohh yeah riding on hills must be such hard work, I havent ridden a bike in years, but riding my exercycle each morning now, when it goes upa virtual hill my speed really slows down

Good morning, Thursday, indonesia time. Wow, what a cool morning walk before sunrise. The view is very beautiful. Yes, it's true that there are people in the picture, but the picture you took is still perfect. Thank you friends.
