a visit to the port

a visit to the port

I am sure there are some who see the title and think ohh no here he goes again with shots taken at the port there.

But this one is a little different, as those who have followed me for a while will know, most of the year my walks are early morning heading out well before sunrise, and catching shots of the blue hour through to the hopefully color sof sunrise.

But over the winter months where its to cold for me to head out at that time, when we do get a nice day with a temp I am good with going out for a walk in, I sometimes get out for walks during the day, as is the case for these shots

The day I took these in the early afternoon the temp was around 45F there was no wind or rain and the sun was out so I thought this is a good chance to get a walk in and headed to the port

Shortly after starting the walk I saw this police boat, what really caught my eye was the funky reflections.

Next up we have this building the Wharfinger building

The Wharfinger Building in New Bedford, Massachusetts was built in 1934 by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) as the office of the wharfinger, or manager of the wharf. The building was constructed using recycled materials from a demolished textile mill. Today, the Wharfinger Building is the city's Waterfront Visitor Center, which includes an exhibit on the local fishing industry which I wasnt aware of till I looked up the building i must chekc it out sometime

It also now houses the Mirasol Cafe, which sells along with bakeries items and regular coffee, an iced Coffee i think they call a chipie, not being a coffee drinker I have never tried it, but it seems to be popular, when I drive by their other location it always seems to be doing great business

That coffee shop and bakery looks awesome. What a cool old building! I hope you are able to stay warm over the next couple of days. This polar vortex is pushing through and it is brutal outside here.

It does great business, i have only bene in there once to get a drink for the Daughter in Law, like this place and Starbucks you smellthe coffee as soon as you walk inthe door and I cannot stand the smell

I am sure its even colder there than here, but to cold for me glad I have no need to go out today

Good photography.

The water body must be a very big one to have many boats for fishing.
I'm thinking... don't the water run out of fishes? Lol🤣

The reflections on the police boat were definitely eye-catching, and I loved the bit of history you shared about the Wharfinger Building. It’s always nice to discover new things about familiar places.

You are still fit in the twilight, Sir. I guess it is not easy to get a good photo in the cold weather, it takes determination. Stay healthy, Sir @tattoodjay

Water is good.
I usually drink coffee daily; it's part of my life now. I cannot start the day without coffee. I also drink Coca-Cola whenever I crave it.

Interesting history on that Mirasol Cafe building. It looks pretty old on the outside. You did catch some nice reflections there, it must have been a nice calm day. How the temperature doing today?

Definitely looks like a refreshing walk. My brain feels relaxed just remembering my walks in Bristol.
