a few boats

THe title itself I came up with for this post got me thinking, boats or ship sso I looke dit up and in casual use, the word boat is often used to refer to any watergoing vessel, regardless of its size or how it's powered. However, large oceanfaring watercraft—those that use multiple sails or engines—are more properly called ships. In contrast, the word ship isn't commonly applied to smaller craft

OK that makes sense to me, and now I will share a few boats I have seen on walks here

Now I didnt find a definition as such of what classifies as a larg boat, but i am guessing in this first photos there are many boats and spme of the commercial fishing boats look fairly large and could perhaps be considered as ships

this next one is down at the port one morning I love catchign the silhoettes of the ship farmes, towers or whatever they are called

This first shot was one morning when I was taking a walk on Popes Island which is betwen New Bedford and Fairhaven, well the island itself is par tof new Bedford but also connects via a bridge to Fairhaven

The Ship K.A.T.E is often moored/ dopocked at this spot so I often get shots of here, I wonder is she is large enough to be called a ship my gut feeling is perhaps not

I am not sure what this boat does but I saw it tied up at the port one morning
I looked her up and the Captain Josepb E Pearce is an Offshore Tug/Supply Ship built in 1991
and I note called a ship, so maybe the KATE could be a ship as well

I've always wondered what the difference was too. I know that they call submarines boats, but beyond that I think it is kind of a gray area. Nice shots!

Sharp photo, the first one. I think you used the flash on some and they are still showing out perfectly. There's an extraction boat, a surveillance one and a leisure one. They, generally, have the same shape globally but it's interesting to see all these 3 types in one place.
