Festival of retro vehicles, from trams to children's bicycles

Every festival is a sea of impressions and a huge number of photos. It's easy to choose 10-15 photos taken during the walk, put them in chronological order and write a post. But how to choose a few pictures from dozens or even hundreds of photos taken during the festival. Your eyes are scattered! Everywhere you look you will see something interesting.

At the end of May our city holds a traditional festival of retro transport. The main site of the festival is the square near the circus and the adjacent streets and embankments. We met my friend @qwerrie at the main festival site when the action was in full swing. What we did next was unconventional. Instead of exploring the exhibits and taking detailed photos of everything, we went to a nearby coffee shop to sit in silence for a while.

Why did we do it this way? This year I decided to meet the convoys of cars on their route towards the main festival site. I learnt this route in advance and chose convenient points for observation. By the time I arrived at the main site, the festival had already started. We walked along the convoy of cars, taking a few photos along the way, and then had a little rest in a cafe. And only after that we went back to the square and started walking between the parked cars, paying special attention to some exhibits.

The festival traditionally hosts different types of transport. Here you can see trams, buses, lorries and a large number of private cars. Reconstructionists, who came to the festival in specially made costumes, stand out among ordinary visitors. One can't help but think of film shoots... Especially since special cinematographic vehicles also come to the festival. @qwerrie told me an interesting fact that I didn't know before. Retro cars for film shoots are specially assembled so that they reflect the look of the era, but it is a certain generalised image, not a specific model.

Gradually the cars begin to leave. It's nearing evening. The shadows are getting long. We walk round the square one more time and say goodbye. It's been a great day, but my main wish now is to lie down on the sofa and not move for a while. At the same time we can start sorting through the photos and picking out the best shots. But there are so many photos that this process will probably take a long time.

Even me would amazed if I watch this kind of festival. 😊 Thank you for sharing it here.😊 I'm sure many veterans love to watch the festivals since the theme is retro.😊 It's like reminiscing the past.😄

Some brilliant old motor vehicles on display, people who dress for the occasion makes it special. Trams steal the day as ours disappeared so many years ago they are but a feint memory.

I love trams. Fortunately, the city managers did not manage to completely dismantle the tram network at the end of the last century, although such attempts were made. Some of the old tram routes in the city centre are very much missed now, they were beautiful and comfortable. Now we have the main tram lines operating in the areas of new buildings.
Thank you very much!

Hopefully cities have learned not to throw old transport systems out too quickly, mistakes made take millions to replace.

Have a wonderful weekend, thanks for this lovely walk down memory lane!

Lol I know that feeling, you’d be like “which should go or which should hold on for a bit”😅
