Unpacking What We Know About LeoAds And The Revevnues Of Leo
We are getting closer.
One the most recent AMA, we notified of the date when LeoAds goes live. This is when we see the long-talked about (and developed) ad revenue program goes live.
From that broadcast, we were told the date the contract goes live will be November 1st. This mean we are looking at roughly 3 weeks.
For that reason it is beneficial to look at what it entails and what this means for Leo.
$150 Million Platform
Before we unpack what is contained in this, I must once again state something that I posted on Threads.
This is going to be a number I keep putting out there. As I said in the post that it was introduced, you can do your own math on the value of the token. Nevertheless, this is my commitment to those holding Leo Power and believing in the future of the ecosystem.
It is also a way to show everyone where my thinking is. There is no point in thinking small when life changing money is available.
With that said, let us see what is happening with LeoAds.
Threads
We all know there are counters on threads. We also can see the ads that appear on there. All of this is designed with one purpose in mind: to bring money in from the outside into the Leo (and Hive) ecosystem.
It is really that simple.
Companies pay for the advertising with bitcoin. That is fed into the smart contract. With the revenue generated from threads, LEO is purchased and distributed to the holders of Leo Power. (LP). I presume this will be on a percentage basis, so whatever your stake, against the whole, will provide you with the payout.
That means you will get more LEO for holding Leo Power. We also can see how the ad revenue is used to buy the tokens off the market. This is much different than what we have seen in the past on Hive.
Bottom line is the revenue coming in from threads is all directed to LP holders.
Evergreen Content
This is a long discussed topic on Hive and it is about to change. Leo content will have value even outside the 7 day voting window.
Once again, we are dealing with the ad revenue model. Long form content (articles) is going to have a counter. That means it will be eligible for rewards.
Here is where we see things getting a bit different.
Under this scenario, the revenue generated from this articles will pay out 50% to the author. This is a cumulative total generates on all the articles for that time period (presumably monthly). Whatever all your articles generate, half that money is yours. Again, we likely will see the buying of LEO off the market and distributed.
Please note there will be a minimum threshold that one needs to it. It is not a per article basis so that is a help.
Building Databases
Here is where the idea of database, regardless of the content come in.
Obviously, most of this will apply to articles. However, as stated with LeoGlossary, it is all about pageviews. Getting people to click on more pages should be the goal of everyone who has any Leo Power in their wallets.
The more pageviews that take place, we can see how this impacts the amount of revenue coming in.
For this reason, it is imperative to add as much as we can. Databases can fill this void. This is something that I would urge everyone to consider.
Stop Shit-posting
We know there was a long time issue with shit-posting on Hive. This is something that I would also suggest everyone stop.
If you are writing garbage long form content, then you are going to fail. The idea is to get people reading your stuff. This means that you have to present then with something that makes them want more from you.
How often have you found a blog and went through a lot of what that person wrote? The information was captivating to you, it just sucked you in. Now, with the rebrand, we can post about anything on Leo. However, you best make it appealing.
For this reason, not only should you stop shit-posting but, also, go back through you older posts and update them. This means doing some SEO if possible. It also means adding content to get to at least 500 words. This is a number that is usually the minimum for the search engines to take a post seriously (750 might be better).
Nevertheless, the idea is to get people to want to click on more of your content. Of course, this is the goal for everyone holding Leo Power since half the reward pool is going to them.
A lot of discussion on Hive is about opportunities. Here is another one staring us in the face. It is also one that is within our control.
We are in a numbers game. People need to focus on this at every level of the platform.
Posted Using InLeo Alpha
The "evergreen" angle is definitely very attractive, at least for those who consider ourselves "article writers" of sorts. Sure, tweets should be expected to have a short shelf life, but when you spend hours writing a thorough article, and sharing it only has (financial) meaning for a week, that can dampen enthusiasm.
And yes, it would be great to see an end to shitposting. Whether that is realistically possible remains to be seen... there will always be those who are intent on milking everything they can from a system.
=^..^=
Wow love the concept of ads that the advertisers pay in the form of BTC i have never seen this concept come into fruitition before.
If there are zero eyes on the platform, revenue earnings will be nil regardless of the quality. There are things the platform can do as well to improve SEO and they better or the theory of evergreen content earnings through ad revenue is meaningless. That also means bringing in meaningful user numbers and that's not happening nor will be, even with the current marketing push.
Ad revenue matters little when your platform isn't being utilized for marketing. The current ad campaigns are spam/scam trash. People may overlook that on an individuals blogging website, but not on a respectable platform. Trash ads equals trash platform.
I think a good sign of success is creating buzz. A rebrand would be a good way to do that, but @khaleelkazi and @anomadsoul choked on that one big time. Shit name and zero outside buzz equals stagnation...
Your brown nosing/shilling Hive has done well for you here and the Whales expect that. Influencers don't give a fuck about the platforms they use beyond numbers, but Hive is the only one that expects and even demands more. As long as that expectation remains, Hive will remain as is.
Don't hold your breath, because there's nothing new under the sun here, so no reason for anything to actually change.
Looks like I have some learning to do about Leo Power. I'm just assuming it works similarly to Hive and HP. I don't think I've ever bought or powered up any LEO, but I'm assuming I have received some as rewards for upvotes on InLeo threads.
Either way, looks like I got some LEO to accumulate and power up sooner rather than later. If you have resources/articles to share about the benefits of LEO and Leo Power, that would be great so I have a better idea what I'm doing.
Almost 2 years into my time on Hive (mainly for playing Splinterlands) and I'm still not 100% sure what I'm doing with HIVE and HP, and whether my actions are in the best interests of my goals (supporting the development of the blockchain & increasing my stake/value over time).
There is a lot to learn. Leo Power operates in a similar fashion as HP in terms of curation. There is no governance with LP like HP, so it has no impact upon witness or any other voting.
With LEO, there are things being built out that will enhance the value in my opinion. It is a platform where people can enter and build. This is the difference.
Thanks for the intel. Are there any good Hive accounts that I should follow or look to for content about understanding LEO and Leo Power better?
