Tom Lee: Ethereum Still in a Supercycle

On October 26th, Tom Lee, the Chairman of BitMine which is the first Ethereum holding institution, stated in a post that "Ethereum (ETH) is still in a Supercycle." Most of the time, the price "leads" the fundamentals, but there are also occasions when the fundamentals lead the price. · The demand for stablecoins is surging. · The Ethereum transaction volume has hit a new all-time high. In an interview with CNBC, Tom Lee said: "Due to the impetus of stablecoins, both the Ethereum Layer 1 and Layer 2 networks are witnessing significant growth in activity. It's just that this improvement in fundamentals has not been fully reflected in the coin price - market pricing often shows a lagging effect. In my view, the continuous increase in on-chain activity actually provides a solid foundation for a major market price movement before the end of the year."

Fascinating take on Ethereum's supercycle. I've seen fundamentals lag behind price action before, but the surge in stablecoin demand and transaction volume is a strong signal. Could be setting up for a big move by year-end, just as Tom Lee suggests

It is likely a multi-year cycle that will catapult $ETH to very high levels. That is what Lee is betting on anyway. Will it happen? The logic he is using seems sound.

Multi-year cycles have historically driven massive gains in crypto, and ETH's fundamentals like stablecoin demand could fuel that. Tom's logic checks out—on-chain activity often precedes price. Could be a wild ride if it plays out

It is hard for many with the immediate term focus to understand how large growth cycles, taking place over a few years, can be.

The same with technology. People look at the changes in the last 3 months as opposed to how far we have come in the past few years.

That's a great point about the long-term perspective. Most get caught up in short-term noise, but these multi-year cycles in crypto and tech often reveal the real transformative trends.
