We have a distroted view of technology due to Hollywood. There is a lot made about Skynet and The Terminator scenario.
In this video I discuss how we are looking at things in the worng manner. Technology is actually a double edged sword, to be either use positively or negatively.

Yes it is a topic on which people talk a lot about.
I think it is because that humans are aware of our shortcomings, and how badly we treat a lot of things; the earth, others, nature, etc. It is easy to see how AI can see it from the data. I do think that since we can imagine these scenarios in Hollywood, we can program and prepare these AI and robots better to avoid those scenarios.
