Late Evening Dinner At Lao Ma Restaurant

Weixin Image_20250525191841.jpg

This weekend I have been in a different area of the Huairou city while I was cycling around after my last face scan in the office in the late afternoon. I have not had dinner in the institute canteen, so I was searching for a Halal restaurant in that area where I could have my dinner in the early evening. After riding for a while, I found a new restaurant that seemed to be a good one near a residential area where many foreigners usually live. It was almost the post-dinner time, and many times I have seen that many restaurants in the area are often closed at other times than the usual lunch and dinner time. But usually, the restaurants are open for longer hours than the usual time of opening during the launch time.

So, I found that the restaurant opens during this evening when the dinner hours are already spent, as in the summer, the sun sets very late, around 7:30 pm, while the dinner time in Beijing starts around 5:30 pm. I went inside the restaurant and found some people still were having dinner at this late dinner time. I have also seen many tables set up outside the restaurant, where I saw some people gossiping after their dinner. So, it seems that the restaurant was quite popular in this area.

I have found the internal decoration of the restaurant was quite impressive and the environment was quite good, but less attractive than some other Lao Ma or Halal restaurants in this area. Then the waiter came with the menu and I found they have a good collection of dishes, but when I visit any restaurant only myself, then usually I order some combo package that can I finish up as larger dish could not be taken entirely by me and that will be wastage, so I don't order such dishes. Also, some dishes were little bit expensive than the other restaurants near my institute.

I have ordered a lamb meat-stir-fried rice with some carrot and some sauce that seems to be soy sauce. They use the backbones of the sheep, and the pieces were quite small, but the amount of rice was more than I expected, and I was unable to finish the entire rice. I have also ordered a couple of lamb meat BBQ and BBQ of chicken hearts. The BBQ came quite faster than the fried rice was deliver. I think due to more customers, the food was delivered a little bit later than another restaurant in my observation.

The price of the lamb meat fried rice was 20 RMB, which is almost $3.00, and the price of each BBQ stick was around $0.60. The taste of the BBQ was quite better than many other halal restaurants as the meat was very fresh and so soft. May restaurant I found them a little bit chewy but here they were very soft and juicy. I love them with the extra spices as they ask during the order whether they will add pieces or not and definitely, I told them to add more spices.

The amount of rice was so much that I did not consume the entire rice this time, as the amount was really too much. But I have eaten all the meat pieces, though there were not so many in number. As a new restaurant it was quite a good experience o heart there. I hope in future I will try more in this Muslim restaurant in coming days.

I hope you like my experience in the new Halal restaurant and these photos of the delicious foods from the Xinjiang-oriented Halal restaurant where I had dinner. I enjoy them for having a higher spicy level than most of the foods in my institute canteen, and halal certification in the area where halal foods are not so common to find. If you have any queries, let me know in the comments, and I will try my best to answer them as much as I can afford.

Thanks a lot for your time and attention. I will catch up with you at the next one.

Wishing you a good day!

I took all the photos, and these are my own property.

Dear @tanzil2024 !
Hassan!
I guess you got sick of the dorm cafeteria food and ate at a street food restaurant!😃
Looking at your face, I thought you were tired because your digestive system couldn't adapt to Chinese food!
People like you who live abroad for a long time often suffer from gastrointestinal problems because they can't adapt to foreign food!

I always eat only fresh food that I cook myself because I have stomach problems when I buy food from street food restaurants! That's why I can't travel abroad!
I had Indian curry and it was so spicy my stomach hurt! I thought Bangladeshi food would be very spicy too!😄
You are a very strong person compared to me!
So, I envy you!😄

I assumed the halal food you ate was made from Indica rice. Indica rice doesn't taste good to East Asians. Do you like Indica rice?

You look younger and more handsome when you shave!
By the way, When you grow a beard, you look stronger and older!😄

I wonder if you and your friend Shaheen are still in touch! In my memory, Shaheen looked like the King of India!
I guessed Shaheen would be your favorite among your friends!

I guess Shaheen would be the best among your Bangladeshi friends!

I always wonder what kind of achievements you will make in China!

Since ancient times, Indian Buddhist monks have had a great religious and academic influence on China and Korea, Japan!

So, it is always interesting for East Asian scholars to look at the Indian subcontinent from a Buddhist perspective!

Many East Asian scholars yearn for the days when Hassan's ancestors practiced Buddhism.
Koreans who visited Bangladesh 1,300 years ago recorded the friendliness and generosity of Buddhists.
They noted the kindness and physical attractiveness of Bangladeshi women.

East Asians said Bangladeshi women make good marriage partners because they are kind and attractive.
So, Many East Asian men are attracted to statues of Indian women like this!😄

East Asians had been intimately connected to Indian Buddhism for 2,000 years, so Islam had strange.
If you feel offended by my expression, I will delete it!

I wonder what meaning and value my meeting with Hassan will bring to my life!
I always wonder why Hassan lives in China, enduring loneliness and suffering! What is Hassan's purpose in life?

I always enjoy reading your travel stories!

Don no batt!

I can tolerate all kinds of food and I have no gastric problems at all as I am practicing good eating habbits like intermittent fasting and one meal a day quite often. But still itvis difficult to cook my meal here. The ruce is always the same like chinese rice here. I think you don’t have clear idea about halal foods. All vegetables, rice, olant based foods are halal whether itvis from China or USA or Korea or Bangladesh or India! Halal has something to do when you process the meat, as blood must be allowed to drip away.

I don’t think modern nations care about old history, or religions at all in eastern world! I am glad that you like my stories here. Thanks for your insightful comment. @topcomment, please do upvote to the insightful comment, thanks!
