I hope your weekend is going well and that you are already preparing for the week ahead. It's amazing how quickly time flies, and before we know it, we are about to dive into new challenges and opportunities every day. Personally, I have been making the most of my weekend, trying to balance moments of rest with activities that fill me with satisfaction and joy.
This Saturday after lunch, I decided to go out for a while to La Vela shopping center with a very special purpose: to buy a wallet for my father. His is very worn out, and since he mentioned a few days ago that he needed a new one, I thought it would be an excellent opportunity to surprise him with an early Father's Day gift. I love being able to give small gifts, and a wallet is something he will use every day.
The weather has been cloudy and a bit humid, which has given the atmosphere a feeling of freshness. However, this has not overshadowed the island's beautiful landscapes, which remain enchanting even under a somewhat gray sky.

Personalmente, he estado aprovechando mi fin de semana al máximo, buscando equilibrar momentos de descanso con actividades que me llenen de satisfacción y alegría.
Este sábado después de almorzar, decidí salir un rato para dirigirme al centro comercial La Vela con un propósito muy especial, comprar una billetera para mi padre. La suya está muy deteriorada y, como me comentó hace algunos días que necesitaba una nueva, pensé que sería una excelente oportunidad para sorprenderlo con un regalo anticipado por el Día del Padre. Me encanta poder tener pequeños detalles, y una billetera es algo que él va a utilizar todos los días.
El clima ha estado nublado y un tanto húmedo, lo que ha dado una sensación de frescura en el ambiente. Sin embargo, esto no ha opacado los hermosos paisajes de la isla, que siguen siendo encantadores incluso bajo un cielo un tanto gris.
When I arrived at the mall, I browsed through several stores in the hope of finding the perfect wallet for my father. A few weeks ago, I had seen a brown one that I thought would be perfect for him, but unfortunately, when I asked about it, I was told that it was already sold out. It was a bit disappointing, but I didn't get discouraged. I know I still have time to keep looking in other places, and even though I didn't find what I was looking for this time, I'll continue the search another time. For now, my priority was to pick up my husband, whose transportation would drop him off very close to the mall.
Al llegar al centro comercial, recorrí varias de sus tiendas con la esperanza de encontrar la billetera ideal para mi padre. Hace algunas semanas había visto una de color marrón que me pareció perfecta para él, pero lamentablemente, al preguntar por ella, me informaron que ya se había agotado. Fue una pequeña decepción, pero no me desanimé. Sé que aún tengo tiempo para seguir buscando en otros lugares, y aunque no encontré lo que buscaba en esta ocasión, continuaré la búsqueda en otro momento. Por ahora, mi prioridad era recoger a mi esposo, cuyo transporte lo dejaría muy cerca del centro comercial.
Once together, we decided to make another quick stop before heading home. During our conversation, I remembered that I had two packets of sesame seeds at home that my nephew and sister had sent me from Cuba, and I was excited about the idea of making some delicious nougat. To do this, we needed to find some brown sugar, so we set out on a quest to find this essential ingredient. After visiting a few stores, we finally found it and headed back home excited to enjoy a homemade dessert.
Once home, I got to work on the preparation. I started by toasting the sesame seeds in a pan, stirring them carefully until they turned golden brown and gave off that characteristic aroma.
Una vez juntos, decidimos hacer otra pequeña parada antes de regresar a casa. En nuestra conversación, recordé que tenía en casa dos sobres de ajonjolí que mi sobrino y mi hermana me enviaron desde Cuba, y me emocioné con la idea de preparar unos deliciosos turrones. Para ello, necesitábamos conseguir papelón, así que emprendimos un recorrido en busca de este ingrediente esencial. Después de visitar algunos locales, finalmente lo encontramos y nos dirigimos de vuelta a casa con la ilusión de disfrutar de un postre casero.
Una vez en casa, me puse manos a la obra con la preparación. Comencé tostando el ajonjolí en una sartén, revolviéndolo con cuidado hasta que adquiriera un color dorado y desprendiera ese aroma tan característico.
Then, I diluted the brown sugar in a container, letting it simmer until I obtained a thick, uniform mixture.
Luego, diluí el papelón en un recipiente, dejándolo cocinar a fuego lento hasta obtener una mezcla espesa y uniforme.
With patience and dedication, I gradually added both ingredients, stirring constantly so that the sweet would acquire the right texture.
Con paciencia y dedicación, fui integrando ambos ingredientes moviendo todo constantemente para que el dulce adquiriera la textura adecuada.
Finally, I poured it into a mold covered with aluminum foil and let it cool. The wait was worth it, as the result was spectacular. At home, we love sesame seeds and peanuts, so this nougat was received with enthusiasm.
Finalmente, lo vertí en un molde cubierto con papel aluminio y lo dejé enfriar. La espera valió la pena, ya que el resultado fue espectacular. En casa, somos amantes del ajonjolí y del maní, así que este turrón fue recibido con entusiasmo.
So, enjoying cooking and immersing myself in activities that fill me with joy, I spent my weekend in the best possible way. These moments allow me to recharge my batteries and prepare for a new week full of challenges.

Que bueno que aún te queda ajonjolí para tus turrones , se que les gusta mucho y son muy alimenticios, yo nunca he aprendido a hacerlos , actualmente escasean los frutos secos, hace mucho no tenemos maní y el ajonjolí se ve muy poco, disfrútalo en familia como siempre hermana ♥️😘
