Happy Sunday, dear readers. I hope you are enjoying a peaceful day, full of rest and relaxation. Sundays have that special magic that invites us to relax, spend time with family, and recharge our batteries for the week ahead. Today I want to tell you about our family Saturday, one of those simple days that is full of moments that stay in your heart.
Since we had no commitments or urgent reason to get up early, we decided to stay in bed a little longer than usual. It was delightful to wake up without rushing, without alarms, simply letting ourselves be carried away by the leisurely pace of the weekend. Those moments of calm are the most enjoyable, especially when shared with loved ones.
Our idea for that day was to show my mother, who is visiting, something different, as we want to surprise her with something new every day. So we went out to explore the city a little. The weather couldn't have been better: the sky was clear, deep blue, and the white clouds looked like hand-drawn pictures, as if someone had delicately painted the sky. I love it when the sky looks like this; I enjoy these beautiful views.

Los domingos tienen esa magia especial que invita a relajarse, a compartir en familia y a recargar energías para la semana que se avecina. Hoy quiero contarles cómo transcurrió nuestro sábado familiar, uno de esos días sencillos pero llenos de momentos que se quedan en el corazón.
Como no teníamos ningún compromiso ni motivo urgente para levantarnos temprano, decidimos quedarnos en la cama un poco más de lo habitual. Fue delicioso despertar sin prisas, sin alarmas, simplemente dejándonos llevar por el ritmo pausado del fin de semana. Esos momentos de calma son los que más se disfrutan, especialmente cuando se comparten con seres queridos.
Nuestra idea para ese día era mostrarle algo diferente a mi madre, quien está de visita y a quien queremos sorprender cada día con algo nuevo. Así que salimos a recorrer un poco la ciudad. El clima no podía estar mejor: el cielo estaba despejado, de un azul profundo, y las nubes blancas parecían dibujos hechos a mano, como si alguien hubiera pintado el cielo con delicadeza. Me encanta cuando el cielo se ve así, disfruto estas hermosas vistas.
My mother was happy, with a broad smile that never left her face. Her eyes were wide open, attentive to every detail, as if she wanted to absorb everything she saw. I love seeing her like that, with that lively curiosity, as if every corner were something new. We walked for a long time, enjoying the atmosphere, the gentle breeze, and the quiet bustle of the city.
We filled up the car with gas and air so it would be ready, then we toured part of the city.
Mi madre iba feliz, con una sonrisa amplia que no se le borraba del rostro. Sus ojos estaban bien abiertos, atentos a cada detalle, como si quisiera absorber todo lo que veía. Me encanta verla así, con esa curiosidad viva, como si cada rincón fuera una novedad. Caminamos un buen rato, disfrutando del ambiente, de la brisa suave y del bullicio tranquilo de la ciudad.
Colocamos combustible y aire al auto para que estuviera listo después recorrimos parte de la ciudad.
When lunchtime rolled around, my mother, true to form, wanted to go home. For her, that time of day is sacred. But what she didn't know was that we had everything planned: we wanted to take her out to eat cachapa, a traditional Venezuelan dish she had never tried before. She was excited because she didn't know what to expect.
We went to 31 de Julio Avenue, to a place we love for its delicious cachapas. When we arrived, we were served quickly and kindly. We ordered four cachapas with cheese and a serving of pork with salad. It didn't take long for the food to arrive, and when they placed the cachapa in front of my mother, her eyes widened and she exclaimed, “This is huge! They serve a lot here.” We all laughed because her expression was genuine and funny.
Cuando llegó la hora del almuerzo, mi madre, fiel a sus costumbres, quiso regresar a casa. Para ella, ese momento del día es sagrado. Pero lo que no sabía era que teníamos todo planeado: queríamos llevarla a comer cachapa, un plato tradicional venezolano que ella nunca había probado. Estaba emocionada, porque no sabía qué esperar.
Fuimos a la avenida 31 de Julio, a un lugar que nos encanta por sus deliciosas cachapas. Al llegar, nos atendieron con rapidez y amabilidad. Pedimos cuatro cachapas con queso y una ración de cochino con ensalada. No tardaron en traer la comida, y cuando pusieron la cachapa frente a mi madre, abrió los ojos como platos y exclamó: “¡Esto es muy grande! Aquí sirven muchísimo”. Nos reímos todos, porque su expresión fue genuina y divertida.
We explained that cachapa is made with sweet corn and served with plenty of cheese, which makes it very filling. Although my mother doesn't eat much, she decided to try it. She loved the taste of the corn, and although she couldn't finish it, she enjoyed every bite. She also tried the cochino, which she found delicious. It was a different kind of lunch, full of new flavors and shared laughter. So for her, the taste of happiness came in the form of cachapa.
Le explicamos que la cachapa se hace con maíz tierno y se acompaña con abundante queso, lo que la hace muy sustanciosa. Aunque mi madre no es de comer mucho, se animó a probarla. Le encantó el sabor del maíz, y aunque no pudo terminarla, disfrutó cada bocado. También probó el cochino, que le pareció delicioso. Fue un almuerzo diferente, lleno de sabores nuevos y de risas compartidas. Así que el sabor de la felicidad tenía para ella, forma de cachapa.
With our stomachs full and our hearts happy, we decided to head home. On the way, my mother kept repeating how much she had enjoyed lunch. And that made me very happy, because when she is happy, everyone at home is happy. It's those little gestures, those shared experiences, that make every day different.

Con el estómago lleno y el corazón contento, decidimos regresar a casa. Durante el camino, mi madre no dejaba de repetir lo mucho que le había gustado el almuerzo. Y eso me alegró profundamente, porque cuando ella está feliz, todos en casa lo estamos. Son esos pequeños gestos, esas experiencias compartidas, las que hacen que cada día sea diferente.
