[ENG/ESP] Saturday of rest, surprises, and joy.
I wish you a restful Sunday, full of calm and good times. Today I am already preparing for a new start to the week, and I hope you are too, with enthusiasm and renewed energy. Sundays always have that special air of transition; they are the closing of what has been lived and, at the same time, the prelude to what is to come.
This past Saturday was, for the most part, a day of rest for us, although we also took the opportunity to do some chores around the house. The truth is that we were very comfortable at home, tending to our plants, harvesting bananas, setting some aside to take to my father, who also loves them. We were enjoying the tranquility of our home when suddenly we received an unexpected message. It was from Zoom, letting us know that we had to go to the office to pick up a package that we thought we would receive on Monday. The surprise took us out of our routine, as we hadn't planned for it.
Although the day was somewhat cloudy and had that melancholy air that gray afternoons bring, we had to leave after lunch. The girl who sent us the message told us she would wait for us, so we couldn't keep her waiting. We got ready and set off. Despite the clouds, the landscapes unfolding before us were beautiful. I always find beauty in the details. I couldn't resist taking some pictures to share with you later, because every outing, no matter how simple, becomes an opportunity to capture moments.
Les deseo un descansado domingo, lleno de calma y buenos momentos. Ya hoy me estoy preparando para un nuevo comienzo de semana y espero que ustedes también lo hagan, con entusiasmo y energía renovada. Los domingos siempre tienen ese aire especial de transición; son el cierre de lo vivido y, al mismo tiempo, la antesala de lo que está por venir.
Este sábado que culminó fue, en gran parte, un día de descanso para nosotros, aunque también aprovechamos para realizar algunas tareas en el hogar. La verdad es que estábamos muy cómodos en casa, atendimos nuestras plantas, cosechamos plátano, separamos un poco para llevarle a mi padre que también le encanta, también estábamos disfrutando de la tranquilidad de nuestra casa, cuando de repente nos llegó un mensaje inesperado. Era de Zoom, avisándonos que debíamos acercarnos a la oficina para retirar un envío que pensábamos recibir el lunes. La sorpresa nos sacó de la rutina, pues no lo teníamos previsto.
Aunque el día estaba algo nublado y con ese aire melancólico que traen las tardes grises, tuvimos que salir después de almorzar. La chica que nos envió el mensaje nos dijo que nos esperaría, así que no podíamos dejarla aguardando. Nos preparamos y emprendimos el camino. A pesar de la nubosidad, los paisajes que se desplegaban frente a nosotros eran hermosos. Siempre encuentro belleza en los detalles. No pude resistirme y tomé algunas fotografías para poder compartirles luego, porque cada salida, por sencilla que sea, se convierte en una oportunidad para capturar instantes.
When we arrived at the office, we were greeted warmly. The young woman recognized us immediately and handed us the package without delay. It was a brief but pleasant moment, because it is always comforting to meet people who do their job with kindness. With the package in hand, we set off for home.
Al llegar a la oficina fuimos recibidos con amabilidad. La muchacha enseguida nos reconoció y, sin demora, nos entregó el envío. Fue un momento breve, pero agradable, porque siempre reconforta encontrarse con personas que hacen su trabajo con cordialidad. Con el paquete en mano, emprendimos el regreso a casa.
My husband was especially excited. He, more than anyone else at home, was eagerly awaiting that package, because he knew it would make his work at home much easier.
Mi esposo estaba especialmente emocionado. Él, más que nadie en casa, esperaba con ansias esa encomienda, pues sabía que le aliviaría mucho el trabajo en el hogar.
When he arrived, he wasted no time; he carefully unpacked the box and began to assemble the lawn mower. Our yard is quite large, and until now, both he and my son had had to cut the brush with a machete, a heavy and exhausting task. But now, with this tool, the work has become more humane; it can be done in less time and with much less effort.
Al llegar, no perdió tiempo; desempacó con cuidado y comenzó a armar la cortadora de césped. Nuestro patio es bastante extenso, y hasta ahora tanto él como mi hijo habían tenido que cortar el monte con machete, una tarea pesada y agotadora. Pero ahora, con esta herramienta, la labor se ha humanizado, se puede realizar en menos tiempo y con mucho menos esfuerzo.
My husband's excitement was evident. Patiently, piece by piece, he assembled the lawn mower. He stayed busy until late, with that mixture of concentration and joy that children have when they receive a new toy. And when he finished, he didn't hesitate to go out to the yard to try it out. Seeing him operate it with such enthusiasm was a moment that filled me with tenderness; he looked like a boy trying out something he had waited for a long time.
La emoción de mi esposo era evidente. Pacientemente, pieza por pieza, fue armando la podadora. Se mantuvo ocupado hasta tarde, con esa mezcla de concentración y alegría que tienen los niños cuando reciben un juguete nuevo. Y al terminar, no dudó en salir al patio para probarla. Verlo manejarla con tanta ilusión fue un momento que me llenó de ternura; parecía un muchacho estrenando algo que había esperado por mucho tiempo.
So, dear friends, that was how we spent our Saturday: filled with simple but meaningful emotions, moments shared with family, and the satisfaction that comes from small improvements in everyday life. It was not a day of grand plans or trips, but rather one of those moments when happiness is found in simplicity: in a cloudy landscape that is still beautiful, in the warmth of a person who serves us with a smile, in the excitement of a husband who finds relief in a tool that will make his work easier.
