[ENG/ESP] Friday routine and discovery in Margarita
Happy weekend, everyone! I sincerely hope you can enjoy a well-deserved break, disconnect a little from your routine, and recharge your batteries for the new week ahead. Later on, I'll tell you in detail how we took advantage of these days off and what we did to relax. But for now, I want to share with you how my Friday went. Although it was a simple day at work, it was full of little things that made it special and different.
Luckily, I didn't have a very busy schedule this Friday. I just had to go measure the chlorine levels at the Sunsol Unik hotel. During the early morning, two tanker trucks had delivered water to the hotel, and it was essential to verify that the chlorine levels were within the appropriate parameters. So, after coordinating with the Quality and Maintenance department, we left home after lunchtime to carry out this task.
The day had started out somewhat cloudy, with a gray sky that didn't promise much. However, as the hours passed, the weather improved. The sun peeked through the clouds and everything changed, making both the urban and natural landscapes look more vivid and radiant. It's amazing how a little light can transform the environment and also our mood.

Más adelante les contaré con detalle cómo aprovechamos nosotros estos días libres, qué hicimos para relajarnos. Pero por ahora, quiero compartirles cómo transcurrió mi viernes, que aunque de trabajo sencillo, estuvo lleno de pequeñas cosas que lo hicieron especial y diferente.
Por suerte, este viernes no tenía una agenda muy cargada. Solo debía ir a medir los niveles de cloro en el hotel Sunsol Unik. Durante la madrugada, al hotel le habían llegado dos gandolas de agua, y era imprescindible verificar que los niveles de cloro estuvieran dentro de los parámetros adecuados. Así que, tras coordinar con el departamento de Calidad y Mantenimiento, salimos de casa pasada la hora del almuerzo para cumplir con esa tarea.
El día había comenzado algo nublado, con un cielo gris que no prometía mucho. Sin embargo, a medida que avanzaban las horas, el clima fue mejorando. El sol se asomó entre las nubes y todo cambió, y eso hizo que los paisajes, tanto urbanos como naturales, se vieran más vivos, más radiantes. Es increíble cómo un poco de luz puede transformar el entorno y también nuestro estado de ánimo.
When we arrived at the hotel, everything went smoothly. We took the necessary measurements, adjusted the settings, and left everything at optimal levels. It was a short but important job, and we were satisfied to have completed it responsibly.
Al llegar al hotel, todo fluyó con normalidad. Realizamos las mediciones necesarias, ajustamos los parámetros y dejamos todo en niveles óptimos. Fue un trabajo breve pero importante, y nos sentimos satisfechos de haberlo cumplido con responsabilidad.
With that task completed, we moved on to the second activity of the day: stopping by Zoom to pick up some packages. We had one package for us and another for our son, and luckily for us, both had arrived at the same time. That allowed us to take care of everything in one trip, which is always a relief. There's nothing like efficiently crossing items off your to-do list.
Con esa tarea completada, nos dirigimos a la segunda actividad del día, pasar por Zoom para retirar unas encomiendas. Teníamos un paquete nuestro y otro de nuestro hijo, y para nuestra suerte, ambos habían llegado al mismo tiempo. Eso nos permitió resolver todo en un solo viaje, lo cual siempre es un alivio. No hay nada como tachar pendientes de la lista de manera eficiente.
Since we had no more commitments and it was Friday, we decided to take advantage of the afternoon to take a walk around the municipality of Mariño. In particular, I wanted to stop by the Marina Bay Hotel, where the Casino Del Sol is located on Abancay Street in the municipality of Mariño in the state of Nueva Esparta on Margarita Island, which is currently undergoing repairs. This hotel is known for housing the only casino still operating on the island, in an area that was once very busy. I have been told that there used to be several clubs, bingo halls, and casinos in Margarita, but over time many closed down. This is the only one that still remains.
Como ya no teníamos más compromisos y era viernes, decidimos aprovechar la tarde para dar un paseo por el municipio Mariño. En particular, quise pasar por el Hotel Marina Bay donde se encuentra el Casino Del Sol ubicado en la calle Abancay en el municipio Mariño del Estado Nueva esparta en Isla Margarita, que actualmente está en proceso de reparación. Este hotel es conocido por albergar el único casino que aún permanece activo en la isla, en una zona que en otros tiempos fue muy concurrida. Me han contado que antes había varios clubes, bingos y casinos en Margarita, pero con el paso del tiempo muchos cerraron. Este es el unico que aún resiste.
I had been wanting to stop by for a while, not to go into the casino, because, to be honest, I'm not a fan of gambling, but simply out of curiosity. I believe that money, being the fruit of my labor and effort, should not be risked in games of chance. However, I respect those who enjoy that activity. So when I saw that the casino had its doors open, I went inside. I didn't take many photos out of respect for the rights of others, I only took a few pictures with permission.
The place, although undergoing renovation, shows that it was built with great luxury in its day. I thought it would be interesting to show you this part of the island which, although not the most visited, has its own charm and beauty.
Tenía tiempo queriendo pasar por allí, no para entrar al casino, porque, siendo honesta, no soy amante del juego, sino por simple curiosidad. Considero que el dinero, al ser fruto de mi trabajo y esfuerzo, no lo arriesgaría en juegos de azar. Sin embargo, respeto a quienes disfrutan de esa actividad. Por eso, cuando vi que el casino tenía sus puertas abiertas, me acerqué. No tomé muchas fotos por respeto al derecho de los demás, solo capturé algunas imágenes con permiso.
El lugar, aunque en remodelación, deja ver que en su época fue construido con mucho lujo. Me pareció interesante mostrarles esta parte de la isla que, aunque no es la más transitada, tiene su encanto y belleza particular.
After that unusual outing, we returned home to enjoy a well-deserved rest. It was a productive day, with moments of work, errands, and also some leisure time.
