It is about a sunset, but not just any sunset. It is the magical, unforgettable, and deeply beautiful sunset of Juan Griego, a place that has the ability to touch the soul with its colors, its history, and its tranquility.
I will tell you all about our trip, from the beginning to the moment when the sun began to set behind the horizon, giving us a palette of colors that looked like it had been painted by the hand of a heavenly artist.
That day we all left home together. I had a small errand to run: deliver two invoices to the Ecoland hotel. But beyond that, our real intention was to take my mother to enjoy the sunset in Juan Griego. She is visiting, enjoying her vacation with us, and since she only has a few days left before returning home, we wanted to make the most of every moment, sharing beautiful places and memorable experiences with her.
We decided to take the route through Portachuelo, not only because it is picturesque, but also because we wanted to stop at the viewpoint. From there, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the municipality of Gómez. My mother was enchanted by this place. The vastness of the landscape, the serenity of the surroundings, and the natural beauty brought more than one smile to her face. As always, we took some photos to immortalize the moment and share it with you, our friends and readers.

Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes una experiencia muy especial, un momento que quedó grabado en mi memoria y que deseo transmitirles con todo el cariño del mundo. Se trata de un atardecer, pero no de cualquier atardecer. Es el mágico, inolvidable y profundamente hermoso atardecer de Juan Griego, un lugar que tiene la capacidad de tocar el alma con sus colores, su historia y su tranquilidad.
Les contaré cómo fue todo nuestro recorrido, desde el inicio hasta ese instante en que el sol comenzó a esconderse detrás del horizonte, regalándonos una paleta de colores que parecía pintada por la mano de un artista celestial.
Ese día salimos todos juntos desde casa. Yo tenía una pequeña diligencia pendiente: entregar dos facturas en el hotel Ecoland. Pero más allá de eso, nuestra verdadera intención era llevar a mi madre a disfrutar del atardecer en Juan Griego. Ella está de visita, disfrutando de sus vacaciones con nosotros, y como ya le quedan pocos días antes de regresar, queríamos aprovechar cada momento al máximo, compartiendo con ella lugares hermosos y experiencias memorables.
Decidimos tomar la ruta por Portachuelo, no solo porque es pintoresca, sino porque queríamos hacer una parada en el mirador. Desde allí se puede apreciar una vista espectacular del municipio Gómez. Mi madre quedó encantada con ese lugar. La amplitud del paisaje, la serenidad del entorno y la belleza natural le robaron más de una sonrisa. Como siempre, tomamos algunas fotos para inmortalizar el momento y poder compartirlo con ustedes, nuestros amigos y lectores.
We took it easy along the way. There was no hurry, and that allowed us to enjoy the road. As we drove along, my mother observed with curiosity and amazement how picturesque the towns of Tacarigua and Santana looked. Their colorful houses, quiet streets and the warmth of the people gave her a sense of peace that showed on her face.
El trayecto lo hicimos con calma. No había prisa, y eso nos permitió disfrutar del camino. Mientras avanzábamos, mi madre observaba con curiosidad y asombro lo pintoresco que se veían los pueblos de Tacarigua y Santana. Sus casas coloridas, sus calles tranquilas y la calidez de la gente le dieron una sensación de paz que se notaba en su rostro.
Arriving at the hotel, I quickly handed over the bills and we resumed our way to Juan Griego. There we spent a very pleasant time near the sea. We walked along the shore, felt the sea breeze and visited some emblematic places so that my mother could get a good impression of the place. We wanted her to get to know not only the natural beauty, but also the welcoming spirit of Juan Griego.
Al llegar al hotel, entregué las facturas rápidamente y retomamos el camino hacia Juan Griego. Allí pasamos un rato muy agradable cerca del mar. Caminamos por la orilla, sentimos la brisa marina y visitamos algunos lugares emblemáticos para que mi madre pudiera llevarse una buena impresión del sitio. Queríamos que conociera no solo la belleza natural, sino también el espíritu acogedor de Juan Griego.
As evening began to fall, we headed to Fortín La Galera, one of the best places to watch the sunset. For me, the sunsets at Juan Griego are simply indescribable. There is something about the way the sun bids farewell to the day that moves me deeply. My mother was in awe. Her eyes sparkled as she watched the sky turn shades of orange, pink and gold. It was a magical evening, full of peace, beauty and family connection.
Cuando la tarde comenzó a caer, nos dirigimos al Fortín La Galera, uno de los mejores lugares para contemplar el atardecer. Para mí, los atardeceres en Juan Griego son simplemente indescriptibles. Hay algo en la forma en que el sol se despide del día que conmueve profundamente. Mi madre se quedó maravillada. Sus ojos brillaban mientras observaba cómo el cielo se teñía de tonos naranjas, rosados y dorados. Fue una tarde mágica, llena de paz, belleza y conexión familiar.
As if that were not enough, we were lucky enough to listen to a little speaker, only nine years old, who graciously and confidently shared a brief history of the fort. It was a charming detail that added even more value to our visit.
Como si fuera poco, tuvimos la suerte de escuchar a un pequeño orador de tan solo nueve años, quien con mucha gracia y seguridad compartió una breve historia del fortín. Fue un detalle encantador que añadió aún más valor a nuestra visita.
*The truth is that we had a wonderful time. My mother enjoyed every moment of the tour, every landscape, every conversation, and of course, that sunset that will remain engraved in our hearts.
