[ENG/ESP] A different kind of work journey
I wish you all a wonderful Friday and a relaxing weekend. Today I have to work, but after that I will be able to enjoy a well-deserved rest for the rest of the weekend. This year started off quite intensely, full of commitments and work responsibilities that have kept us constantly on the move. However, I am grateful to have a job and a team with whom I can share these days, which sometimes, like yesterday, turn out to be different and even enjoyable.
Yesterday, Thursday, was one of those days that strayed a little from the routine. We had planned to visit only one Sunsol facility, but as often happens in this type of work, the unexpected quickly arose. We received an urgent call about a broken connector at the Sunsol Isla water treatment plant, so we decided to reorganize the day and address both situations.
Early in the morning, the three of us set off together for Sunsol Isla. The day before, we had left the plant working perfectly, so we were surprised by the call. When we arrived, the head of the quality department greeted us with a mixture of concern and apologies. She explained that a new employee, seeing a small drop of water, tried to tighten a connector too hard and ended up breaking it. The problem worsened when the drip turned into a constant stream, and since they did not have a spare part, they preferred to call us before the situation got worse.
Les deseo un lindo viernes y un descansado fin de semana. Hoy me toca trabajar, pero después podré disfrutar del merecido descanso el resto del fin de semana. Este año comenzó con bastante intensidad, cargado de compromisos y responsabilidades laborales que nos han mantenido en constante movimiento. Sin embargo, agradezco tener trabajo y un equipo con el que compartir estas jornadas, que a veces, como la de ayer, se tornan diferentes y hasta agradables.
Ayer jueves fue uno de esos días que se salen un poco de la rutina. Teníamos planificado visitar una sola instalación de Sunsol, pero como suele suceder en este tipo de labores, los imprevistos no se hacen esperar. Recibimos una llamada urgente por una rotura en un conector de la planta potabilizadora de Sunsol Isla, así que decidimos reorganizar el día y atender ambas situaciones.
Desde temprano salimos los tres juntos rumbo a Sunsol Isla. El día anterior habíamos dejado la planta funcionando perfectamente, así que nos sorprendió la llamada. Al llegar, la jefa del departamento de calidad nos recibió con una mezcla de preocupación y disculpas. Nos explicó que un empleado nuevo, al ver una pequeña gota de agua, intentó apretar un conector con demasiada fuerza y terminó partiéndolo. El problema se agravó cuando el goteo se convirtió en un chorro constante, y como no contaban con un repuesto, prefirieron llamarnos antes de que la situación empeorara.
Fortunately, we always carry spare parts in the truck, so it didn't take us long to fix the problem. We removed the damaged connector and replaced it with a new one, getting the plant up and running again. We all breathed a sigh of relief, and the boss thanked us. Knowing that we were able to help and prevent a bigger problem always leaves us feeling good.
Afortunadamente, siempre llevamos repuestos en la camioneta, así que no tardamos mucho en resolver el inconveniente. Retiramos el conector dañado y colocamos uno nuevo, dejando la planta nuevamente operativa. Todos respiramos aliviados, y la jefa nos agradeció. Saber que pudimos ayudar y evitar un problema mayor siempre nos deja una buena sensación.
When we finished, we took Simplicio Rodríguez Avenue to head to our second destination. This avenue is one of my favorites, not only because it is wide and comfortable, but also because it runs along the coastline, offering spectacular views of the sea and the hills. Whenever I pass by, I stop for a moment to contemplate the landscape, sometimes even taking a few photos to capture those moments that nature gives us without asking for anything in return.
Al terminar, tomamos la avenida Simplicio Rodríguez para dirigirnos a nuestro segundo destino. Esta avenida es una de mis favoritas, no solo por su trazado amplio y cómodo, sino porque bordea el litoral costero, regalándonos vistas espectaculares del mar y los cerros. Siempre que paso por allí, me detengo un momento a contemplar el paisaje, a veces incluso tomo algunas fotos para guardar esos instantes que la naturaleza nos regala sin pedir nada a cambio.
Our second destination was Sunsol Ecoland, where we had to check a leak in one of the laundry filter taps. Luckily, it was a simple fix: all we had to do was apply a little Teflon tape to seal the thread properly. Although the problem was minor, the staff were afraid of handling it and causing further damage, so they preferred us to do it. It was sorted in a matter of minutes.
Nuestro segundo destino fue Sunsol Ecoland, donde debíamos revisar una fuga en una de las llaves del filtro de la lavandería. Por suerte, era algo sencillo: solo hacía falta colocar un poco de teflón para sellar bien la rosca. Aunque el problema era menor, el personal tenía miedo de manipularlo y causar un daño mayor, así que preferían que lo hiciéramos nosotros. En pocos minutos quedó resuelto.
With both tasks completed, we decided to end the tour with a snack at one of our favorite bakeries: “LRM Bistrot,” located on Girardot Street in Nueva Esparta State, on Margarita Island. It is a cozy place with delicious breads, ideal for relaxing after a day's work. We took the opportunity to chat, share anecdotes from the day, and reflect on how we can continue to improve. We like to listen to each other, exchange ideas, and recognize what each person contributes. We know that consistency and quality are the keys to success, which is why we value these moments of connection and exchange.
Con ambas tareas cumplidas, decidimos cerrar el recorrido con una merienda en una de nuestra panadería favorita: “LRM Bistrot” ubicada justo en la calle Girardot en el estado Nueva Esparta, en Isla Margarita. Es un lugar acogedor, con buenos y deliciosos panes, ideal para relajarse un rato después de una jornada de trabajo. Aprovechamos para conversar, compartir anécdotas del día y reflexionar sobre cómo podemos seguir mejorando. Nos gusta escucharnos, intercambiar ideas y reconocer lo que cada uno aporta. Sabemos que en la constancia y la calidad está la clave del éxito, y por eso valoramos estos momentos de conexión e intercambio.
