Getting used to playing Hive chess Events; Lichess Liga 4c Team battle
My Recap of the Lichess Liga 4c Team battle.
Ever since making my very first post here on hive which was my introductory post. You can take a quick look here My introductory post I have been trying to interact more on the hive ecosystem by following up on activities mainly on the chess community for now. Although,
i don't have a lot of friends on here yet, but i mostly follow @stayoutoftherz posts as he usually sends reminders on lichess.
Which leads me to writing my second Post, my experience in the liga 4c event that took place yesterday 3rd of July 2025.
My Experience
The blockchain team finished the event at third place which means we were able to promote back to liga 3c, Thanks to team work of the team.
I finished with 37 points ending up as the top striker of the team for this particular team battle.
I played the event with a 100% berserk rate which automatically means more games and more points if all goes to plan.
Thanks to every other players that turned up and raked in points for the team.
Couple of My Games in this Event.
Meniketti vs Tangible_ay
A game that started as a very nice offensive display from my opponent who was white quickly dried up after the move C6 as seen from my opponent.
Although I was down a pawn and very much more down on the clock (as a result of berserk 💥) I was still able to spot a very nice move to spice things up a little.
Nd5?!.
I expected my opponent to continue
- Be3 (counter attacking my queen, which leads to a lot of exchanged, but should be balanced for either sides), Nxe3.
- Qxe3, Qxe3
- fxe3 (Not with the rook due to Bg5!)+=.
But instead after Nd5, My opponent blundered with.
- Qg3, Nxf4
- Qxf4,Bg5 (which leads to a loss of an exchange for white).
After a few more moves, game ended in a checkmate as black wrapped the game easily.

Game 2
Tangible_ay vs Rammsteinitz
In this game I was white and by move 17 the position was already sharp for white. (I am starting to think i enjoy sharp and dangerous positions more 🚀😅).
During the game, as white I thought I had more space in the center to work with, which means more attack!!! Ignoring my lonely king still uncastled.
The game continued from the image above
- Qxe4 g6.
- e6? f5
- Qf3 Nf6.. allowing black to stabilize his position.
(it is easy to spot the undefended rook for black on a8, but for some reason during the game I did not notice. simple
- axb3 would have made my life a lot easier than what was played).
Few moves later, i was able to show some nice mating configuration as white.
I am looking forward to the next Lichess Liga event already which is on Sunday, and i know we can promote to Liga 2 after this event with all hands and on board from the team.

Hehe, congrats to your great performance! But don't forget that more games mean more wins but at the same time also more points for other teams (always when you lose). :-)
Probably it is a good strategy to berserk anyway (because in case you lose not all other teams get points but only one), I just wonder if most people are aware of the that little detail that winning more games by berserking also means losing more and giving other teams points.
Well, nice point to not. Personally, i just wait and see how the first few games go, if they go well, i just continue. If otherwise, i am back to not berserking, nobody definitely wants to throw points to opponent teams easily.
Congratulations!
