In Bruges is a dark drama full of black comedy and unexpected events It tells the story of two hired killers who find themselves hiding in the Belgian city of Bruges after a wrongful operation The film combines smart dialogues excellent acting and the charming views of the city that give the story more depth.

The story

The story begins with Ray played by Colin Farrell and Kane played by Brendan Gleeson as they arrive in Bruges on the orders of their boss Harry after a murder in London goes completely wrong Ray is repressed and hates everything about Bruges while Kane tries to enjoy the beauty of the city Over time we discover that they are not only hiding but also dealing with feelings of guilt and difficult decisions that determine their fate.

Colin Farrell is brilliant as Ray who alternates between comedy and sadness in a very natural way and his interaction with Brendan Gleeson was one of the strongest moments of the film As for Ralph Fiennes as Harry their crazy boss he was awesome and terrifying but he adds a humorous flavor in his own strange way.

The city as part of the story

The city of Bruges is not just a background it is a character in itself The cobblestone streets canals and old buildings add a unique atmosphere to the story The city became like a beautiful prison for the characters and this increased the contrast between the violent events and the quiet beauty.

The film talks about guilt forgiveness and the true meaning of salvation The dialogues are cleverly written and make you think about every word The dark comedy in the film is very well done making you laugh even though the situations are difficult and tragic.

In Bruges is a distinctive film unlike anything else it combines comedy drama and action in an exceptional way If you like movies with depth strong performances and smart dialogues this movie will grab you from the first scene to the last moment.
