Today I want to talk a little about one of the anime series I've enjoyed the most so far. Yes, there have been a few that I like, but Dr. Stone stands out among them because it made me fall in love with it from the very first episode. This is because it's based on a post-apocalyptic story where, after a strange event in which all of humanity turns to stone and 3,700 years have passed, a genius scientist named Senku Ishigami awakens from petrification and finds himself in a whole new world. Nature has reclaimed much of the planet, while most humans remain petrified.
Hoy quiero hablarles un poco sobre una de las series de animé que más me ha gustado hasta el momento. Si, han habido unas cuantas que me gustan pero Dr. Stone resalta entre ellas porque me hizo amarla desde su primer capítulo, y esto porque basa la trama en una historia post apocalíptica donde luego de un suceso extraño en la que toda la humanidad se convierte en piedra y tras pasar 3700 años, un genio científico llamado Senku Ishigami, despierta de la petrificación y se encuentra con todo un mundo nuevo, la naturaleza a reclamado gran parte del planeta y los seres humanos, en su mayoría siguen petrificados.
However, not all is lost for humanity, and this peculiar genius has the ambition to help his kind by eradicating petrification and restoring civilization. But along the way, situations arise that force him to abandon his main objective. It is through science, based on real data, that the protagonist begins his journey to successfully fulfill his dream of saving the world. And it is this particular detail that made me like the series so much. Here, they don't mix anything up or leave anything to chance, talking about incoherent things. Here, they develop the plot taking into account the real data that have been demonstrated by science over the centuries.
Sin embargo, no todo está perdido para humanidad, y este peculiar genio tiene la ambición de ayudar a los de su especie, erradicando la petrificación y restaurando la civilización, pero en el camino se presentan situaciones que lo obligan a dejar de lado su objetivo principal y es a través de la ciencia, basada en datos reales, que el protagonista inicia su recorrido para cumplir con éxito su sueño de salvar el mundo. Y es este detalle en particular que hizo que la serie me gustara tanto. Aquí no mezclan nada ni dejan nada al azar, hablando de cosas incoherentes. Aquí desarrollan la trama tomando en cuenta los datos reales que se han demostrado con la ciencia a lo largo de los siglos.
I also love the way the characters, whether heroes or villains, stand up for their ideals, even to the point of "giving their lives" for it. But don't worry, I don't want to give you any spoilers, so I won't tell you anything compromising, so you'll want to watch the series and draw your own conclusions. On the other hand, another aspect I really liked about Dr. Stone is the exaggerated abilities of the protagonists, that is, ultra-ability to do manual tasks, ultra-strength, ultra-sense of hearing, ultra-intelligence, ultra-vision, and ultra-ability to develop carpentry tools.
También amo la forma en la que los personajes, bien sean heroes o villanos, defienden sus ideales, incluso al punto de "dar la vida" por ello. Pero tranquilos, no quiero darles spoilers, así que no les diré nada comprometedor para que quieran ver la serie y saquen sus propias conclusiones. Por otro lado, otro aspecto que me gustó bastante de Dr Stone es lo exagerado de las habilidades que tienen los protagonistas, es decir, ultra habilidad para hacer cosas manuales, ultra fuerza, ultra sentido del oído, ultra inteligencia, ultra visión o ultra habilidad para desarrollas artículos de carpintería.
As for the villains, I really like the idea that they're excessively strong and defend their own ideals. This makes for some very well-crafted fight scenes, but what has the most weight in the story is the development of the human intellect. Whoever has the best ideas for advancing civilization will have an advantage over the others, and this is what Dr. Stone shows you in every episode of its seasons. Additionally, there's a moral struggle between deciding who deserves to be awakened and who doesn't. This aspect reminded me a bit of the moral issue raised in Full Metal Alchemist, implying that, in the end, the real struggle lies within each character and what they consider good or evil.
En cuanto a los villanos, me gusta mucho la idea de que son exageradamente fuertes y que defiendan sus propios ideales. Esto hace que se desarrollen escenas de peleas muy bien hechas, pero lo que más tiene peso en la historia es el desarrollo del intelecto humano. Quien tenga mejores ideas para desarrollar el avance de la civilización, tendrá ventaja ante los demás y esto es lo que el Dr. Stone te hace ver en cada episodio de sus temporadas. Además, se mantiene una lucha moral entre decidir quién merece ser despertado y quién no. Este aspecto me recordó un poco al aspecto moral que se plantea en Full Metal Alchemist. Dando a entender que al final la verdadera lucha está en el interior de cada personaje y lo que considera bueno o malo.
Finally, I just want to say that, for me, all the characters are magnificent. Each one has something that makes them special. The protagonist stands out for his intellect and knowledge of science, while the mentalist is driven by selfishness and self-interest. But each one complements the other, as if they were all part of a great engine made up of many gears to save humanity. It is there that Senku realizes he needs the help of others and that, as much as he wants to save humanity, he cannot achieve it alone, but only by working as a team. Furthermore, what inspires him to fulfill his dream is science; falling in love is not in his plans, so romance is not a main theme.
Ya para terminar, solo quiero decir que para mí todos los personajes son magníficos. Cada uno tiene algo que lo hace especial. El protagonista resalta por su intelecto y conocimiento de la ciencia, mientras que al mentalista lo guía el egoísmo y el beneficio propio. Pero cada uno se complementa, como si todos formaran parte de un gran motor compuesto por muchos engranajes para salvar a la humanidad. Es allí donde Senku se da cuenta de que necesita la ayuda de los demás y que por más que quiera salvar a la humanidad, no puede lograrlo solo, sino trabajando en equipo. Además, lo que lo inspira a cumplir su sueño es la ciencia, enamorarse no está en sus planes, por lo que el romance no se toma como tema principal.

I've read and heard a lot about this anime, and although it gets good reviews, it's not to my taste. Based on trailers and scenes cut and shared on social media, I don't think there's any cool battles in it.

Solo vi la primera temporada, despues parte de la segunda y me aburrio un poco, por eso deje de verla. Quizas el argumento pierde encanto cuando todos los que van apareciendo solo quieren gobernar. Me parecio muy trivial.
De los mejores animes que ciencia que he visto hasta la fecha de hoy. Y lo mejor es que no solo se queda ahí, sino que también se destaca bastante como anime de aventura, drama y hasta comedia. Tiene tanta variedad un un mundo entero por contar que es increíble.

I totally agree with what you say! I was also hooked from the start because the premise is so original. What I like most is precisely what you mentioned about how they use real science; it's not like other series where they make up nonsense. Here you learn a lot while you're entertained. And yes, the characters are great. It's impossible not to love Senku because he's such a genius, and the villains are so complex they make you think. The theme of intellect versus strength is a super interesting point in the series.
Dr stone is just something else entirely 😍, the concept, settings, characters and how senku performs his role splendidly with a high IQ level is just amazing.
I can watch this anime over and over again without getting tired at all.
