TEXTING THE WRONG PERSON
I don't think there's anyone who has not been a victim to any of the mistakes as listed out on the prompt. As for me, I've been a victim of each and every one of them.
With typo error, I can always blame autocorrect or edit it(that's if I notice in time and/or my attention is called to it) or I can apologize to the message receiver, and indicate that it was typo error.
With messaging or calling the wrong person, it's a little different.
About two weeks ago, I was at my parents' place, and sometime around past 11pm, I was going about setting my table and getting ready to work when my dad's phone started to ring. He and my mum were up seeing something on TV while I was at it. My sister and I were already murmuring about who would be calling someone so late at night, just for him to grab his phone and ask, 'Joe, you de call me?'
I was surprised and told him that I wasn't. Instinctively, I looked around for my phone, which was actually in the back pocket of my trousers, and saw that I was really the one calling him. I just sighed. I remembered that I hadn't locked the screen before I put it in my pocket, and so it went and did what it liked. But that was okay.
I was even lucky as, when I got out the phone from my pocket, my Facebook app was open. I wonder what my 'smartphone ' would have done next. Maybe post my noods. Lmao.
That's not even the story I am sharing today. Here it is...
I was going through whatsapp statuses one day, and I stumbled on that of this friend. It was the picture of nice-looking sneakers and being a sucker for shoes, I sent the message, "Is it available? How much?" I didn't notice what I had done until I received a message from someone else saying, "I thought you said that you had no money."
I saw the message pop up on my notification but hadn't opened it, and I was surprised where the money talks were coming from because I don't recall having any such conversation with this person.
I immediately opened up the message and behold, I had earlier sent the message to the wrong person. Yes, the girl made the status update, but if I had noted that it was her, I would not have sent the message. I'd probably have made a screenshot of the sneakers and go look for it elsewhere. If I had noted that it was her, I would never even as much as said that the pair was nice-looking. I actually assumed that it was one of my guys who sold footwear that made the update.
The thing was, she had asked me for money but I didn't have to give her when she did. I would usually do so when she asked, but I was way above my spending limits for gifting.
Anyway, that was how I started using defective tactics. I said that I wasn't going to get it immediately. That I just needed to know the cost and know if It would be available by the month's end. It was not a funny moment. It was embarrassing. I was explaining on top of my own money.
When eventually I managed to get things down, no one told me to be more careful.
