LEADERSHIP || RISING TO THE OCCASION

I'm not the kind of guy who would readily fight to get positions. I just like that things go in the right order and really quick too because, I no de too like stress. Just do fast make I scamp.

Growing up,I was the reserved kid. The only place where you ever found me free spirited and all loud was on the field. And even then, my talents did most of the work for me. Because of how good I was on the pitch, getting picked in every game, having the bigger guys wanting me on their side of defence, it easily attracted me to other people. It's just like normal math; people want to associate with whomever every other person was. I easily stood out in my circles. You could call me the leader but I was the silent one. I would dish out instructions albeit in a way that wasn't bossy. I was good in leading and controlling but certain leader duties can not be done silently or quietly, certain things just require force.

The day I practically understood that some things are inevitable was a certain day when our football coach was absent and I was chosen to stand in for him. It was a little overwhelming, being someone who did his things in the exact opposite way. The coach was a rash and tough guy. He was strict and that was exactly the energy necessary to deal with our team. But I wasn't same way. And until then, I'd only had to dish out my thoughts during street football with friends, just as they did too.

But this was different and I could not understand why he had to choose me. Out of all those macho men who even by age were my elders, he chose little me. E shock me! I knew I couldn't lead as my coach did cause, e no go tey, one of the guys go say "na Who be this small boy wey go come de tell me wetin to do" and maybe, person go comot my teeth. I was scared a little but had to rise to the occasion.

With as much calmness as I could manage, I was able to make out two teams. Some of the guys helped me well too. Especially when one guy was being a little too rude. People stood up for me and with me. I did some substitutes. The more I de hola instructions, the more my voice de strong. All this I did while giving everyone due regard.

In the end, the match went well. Coach gave me credits for good work done even though I no sure say I do anything deserving. Last last, I just realize say, the thing no too hard. It was just like regular friendly games, same yells and energy and all. Apparently, not many cared so much for who was in charge, they just wanted to play ball. Cooperation was what was needed most. After then, I was able to manage some more games, shey na just ball?
But that experience groomed me a lot too. No regrets.

We do need certain kind of experiences to level up in whatever our fields may be. You have had your share and reading how you rose to the occasion is refreshing

Everyone has a way of doing things and for your coach, being harsh and strict worked well for him but it probably wouldn't have worked for you too if you had used his style of coaching. You figured out your own style and in the end, that's what matters the most

I'm glad I took up that role that day. But it makes it better that I don't try to be a replica of my coach. My style worked

Lexis has clearly been confused as she hides her actions from her parents and comes across as manipulative and violent. Perhaps if the character would engage in more in-depth dialogue we could get to know her better.
