This is an awesome piece. However, I have a pertinent question I often ask. Is discipline the opposite of affection (lLove)?. The child's mind is very tender and vulnerable. Oftentimes, values are imparted by discipline. If you truly love your child; keep the rod (discipline) close. Meanwhile, don't abuse it. Both walk in juxta position.

It's not easy being a parent and you have to balance everything. You have to love your child and at the same time you have to teach them not to do something. Whichever side you exaggerate, there will be problems.

Sometimes, the context in which we use the phrase 'loving our children' baffles me. Does using corrective disciplinary measures on our children means hatred?

No, if you exaggerate it, it becomes hatred.
