I have always believed that all criminal acts should be liable to some kind of punishment, but considering how the world 🌍 has become with too many dubious activities of man, it’s obviously seen that some crimes are committed by people without knowing they are putting themselves into trouble.

Although, having morals and conscience is first thing we should consider as humans when we are faced with some circumstances, especially those acts to lieu us to do something that will benefit us through maybe cutting roads or funds to achieve the best.

In our world 🌍 of today many are caught up in crimes like buying a stolen goods or products without knowing it was stolen due to how those who stole them has mastered how to dispose them by providing receipts 🧾 that might be fake and forged . And because of how Internet wise they are, the go to the extreme of making printed receipts.

A cuisine of mine was involved in this game of stolen goods sometime back in 2023. He actually wanted to change his old screen 📺 TV to a Smart TV since he was already earning better salary after his University program. So checking for the products that are good among others especially in sharpness, he decided to go for Samsung, although more expensive.

And mentioning it to one of his friends, the friend told him he has a guy who buys from importers that might be cheaper and he was happy about it , at least that will help him cut cost 💲. And all said, they arranged to go to the guy shop where he saw a Smart Samsung he liked which he priced and purchased not knowing the shop owner also buys products from individuals who claims they want to dispose off their household items because they needed money.

Behold after about 2 weeks of this TV 📺 purchase my cuisine was arrested for buying stolen goods. What do they mean he asked the officers 👮‍♀️ after he presented his receipt 🧾 of purchase. You will explain in the station they told him. And like joke he was taken to the police station.

And as investigation went on, it now appeared the shop man who was also arrested purchased a stolen Samsung from a guy who has been also arrested. The stole being that the first culprit who stays with his uncle sold some of his uncles properties as he travelled 🧳out of the country hoping to come back. So when he sent another person to check on the guy in his house, the noticed how some electronics has disappeared.

It was indeed a serious case but after bail and the case got to court, the magistrate saw my cuisine as a third party to the case, meaning he did not buy the TV 📺 directly from the first culprit. And since he only dealt with the shop man, the second culprit, his case was considered differently although he was asked to pay 💰 some fine. But the TV he bought was left with him. The magistrate ruled that the shop owner will have to pay for the TV as a dealer after paying huge fine to the court.

The above is a case of victimization. I see this case as a case without any motive that calls for punishment. Both the shop owner and my cuisine never know the first culprit was selling a TV that did not belong to him since he is above 30 years of age. And I also agreed to their motive to purchase be their is no law that state we should be limited to places we buy goods or products.

However, the culprit who is the bone of contention says he acted out of mental emotions due to how his uncle pays no attention to him after all promises from him. He has been waiting for him to start the trade he learned as a means of financial support.

This is crime I feel should not have any punishment attached to it because the motive is not an offense to criminal justification.

This is my response to the #hiveleaners featured content of week 147, edition 03, tagged “ITS A JUSTIFIABLE CRIME.”.

Which of the crimes shouldn't attract punishment: the boy who sold his uncle's property or the shop dealer who bought a stolen good?

Whatever the promise made, there is no justification for the boy to betray his uncle's trust and sell his property. And as for the shop dealer, he definitely knew he was buying a stolen property. Your cousin is the only one who is not in the wrong here. The other two deserves punishment.

Well, I see the guy under mental emotion and trying to help himself out if the uncle can not help him because I have seen cases of relations using people and dumping them in the name that you can’t do shit.

And the shop owner said he has been in the business for over three (3) years and had not been involved in such act because he also buy from people who might be leaving the country or wants to change properties.

I think 💭 its a situation of individual understanding. I see promises as definitely a debt to avoid aggression.

Individuals should actually learn how to control their emotions so as to not do things that are wrong just like the guy who sold a stolen TV.
