Motivation Is The Key.

Everything we do in life needs to have benefits attached to them because benefits are the push we have inside of us to keep moving. The essence of having a paid job is because most of them comes with benefits apart from the salary we expect at the end of the month.

I enjoyed my last 8:00 - 5:00 which was during my spinsterhood. An employment with a Greek Company that deals in Automobile 🚗, based in Lagos Island with branches all over Lagos and other states in Nigeria. This is when 8:00 - 5:00 is very motivating.

I worked with this company for over 10 years, although younger then, because its an organization that is well structured, managed by Boards of Directors and most of them British and Greece . It was an employment I will never forget because every benefit given to the senior staffers are also entitled to the junior staffers which I then belonged into.

To start with, we have staff buses 🚌 which usually picks up every staff at their bus stops at a stated timing, because each route has a staff bus. This is one of the most important benefits then the HR(Human Resources) will let you be aware since they know that transportations in Lagos is one big problem that hinders workers and most times affects Company’ productivity.

Medicals are another motivating benefit employees look out for when in an organization, although small establishments and some private companies may not be able to afford this kind of work benefits to their staffers because of huge expenses that is involved. I enjoyed so much from medical when I was working 8:00 - 5:00. We have big hospitals that were attached to us and no restrictions of any kind even to the extent of eye 👁 care and glasses selection 👓 then. These are great benefits to employees which also keeps once mind at rest.

We usually have monthly vouchers given to staffers which covers your canteen meals. All we need do is just take your voucher, cut out the amount you will want to spend for lunch 🥙. And even when my friends visit me, I will take them along but it might reduce my voucher for the monthly.

Out of stations allowance: And some of our mechanics 🧰who go out of Lagos to work then are paid incentives and out of stations allowance. These are what motivates most of them to travel 🧳 because they know they are getting extra money 💰 apart from their monthly salary.

How about enjoying one (1) full month of yearly leave with some packages that comes with it. And since I was working with the Sales Operations Manager then who usually travels with his family every Christmas, I was always having the opportunity to take my Annual Leave in mid December to enable me enjoy the Christmas 🎅 with my parents then with lots of gifts that were attached to end of the year. And I can say it was quite an experience I will never forget so easily.

I have to resign from the job immediately I stated having my children because it was not a job that allows one with family extra time although there was always maternity leave which was not enough to take proper car of the kids especially at a very tender age.

Although in this recent times, many things has changed. The economy in the first place has caused lots of companies not to pay much attention to workers benefits. While many are not paying attention, others has restricted 🚫 benefits to only those who are professionals due to job competition.

This method of work ethics does not favor many who are at the ordinary levels. These are places like banking institutions, oil companies and some government parastatals who only recognizes top level officials.

But now as a self employed Building management and a Realtor I could say there is advantages and disadvantage as regards to benefits. We can never eat our cakes 🍰 and have them. I enjoy lots of benefits now especially when it comes to people bossing you around, hurrying out all the time even when you are feeling down as an employee. My job allows me to have a schedule with proper slating. When you are not working for anyone, all responsibilities are in your hands like wise benefits. Many of us are afraid of how we can be self employed but everything has time in life so if we don’t do it now, we will definitely do it later in life. Although its quite challenging, but Rome was not built in a day.

However, my Building Management/Realtor job has helped me so much to have time to be here on Hive. Hive I could say now is like an employment too because creating content here is also rewarding. Just like I mentioned at the beginning of this blog, that everything we do in life needs benefits which gives us the push because benefits are like incentives that organizations gives to their staffers which motivates them, likewise how our contents are upvoted, Its always encouraging and motivating especially as we see it as an appreciation which make us put more effort. Motivation brings lots of determination
