Greetings, @suisver here with a new post for the channel. This time I'm bringing you a review, or rather, my experience watching the Japanese anime Grave of the Fireflies. A few days ago I saw a TikTok about this anime and it really caught my attention. I decided to watch it, and honestly, it didn't disappoint. It's super cool, and although the story is sad, it teaches you a lot.

I won't lie, I have no idea how to write a review, but I'll tell you about my experience watching the anime and how I felt. Without a doubt, this anime left me thinking; it's a very powerful and dramatic story.

I had to watch it twice, not because it's difficult to understand, but because at first I wanted to know if the movie was a dream of the protagonist or if he was narrating it from another dimension. And I came to the conclusion that the movie starts at the end and has something to do with spirits that meet and begin to relive their memories. I'm not entirely sure; you'd have to watch it and form your own opinion. But as far as I'm concerned, that's how I interpret it.

The film begins in a train station, and at first, when I saw some homeless people in the subway station, I thought they were just in the way or something. I'm being honest, and it's a little embarrassing, but the film taught me a huge lesson about that—the way we judge when we have no idea what other people are going through.

As I watched it, I felt the characters' desperation, how one adverse situation after another befell them, adversities from which they could not escape. Especially given the circumstances they were going through, which reflect a world of chaos and destruction due to the war the country was facing.

The main character is a boy who loses his parents and suddenly has to take care of his little sister. He does everything he can to keep her from suffering or realizing how tragic the world around her is.

They travel to many places looking for something to eat and somewhere to stay. An aunt helps them for a while, but as things worsen due to the war and the horrible atmosphere in the country, she becomes very irritable. She starts demanding too much from them and even treats them badly, resorting to insults.

So, realizing he can't do anything and suffering from all the abuse, the boy reaches a point where he says, "That's it," and goes to live in a cave with his sister. Many terrible things happen. There comes a point where the desperation to feed his sister forces him to do things he never would have done, like stealing and cheating.

While watching the film, I felt the boy's desperation as if I were experiencing it myself. It's incredibly frustrating to think that these situations actually happened because of war, which changes the lives of everyone who faces it.

It's an excellent anime that left me thinking a lot. I did some research on the era and the social context it depicts. It taught me that things aren't always what they seem and that sometimes, to survive, people have to make life-changing decisions. In the end, all that's left is to understand that sometimes you do what's necessary to survive.

No les mentiré no tengo ni idea de cómo hacer una reseña pero les hablaré de mi experiencia viendo el anime y como me sentí. Sin duda alguna este anime me dejó pensando, es una historia muy fuerte y dramática.
La tuve que ver dos veces pero no porque sea dificil de comprender sino porque al principio quería saber si la película era un sueño del protagonista o la estaba narrando desde otra dimensión espacial. Y llegué a la conclusión de que la película comienza por el final y tiene algo que ver con espiritus que se encuentran y empiezan a transitar sus recuerdos. No estoy muy seguro, tendrían que verla y hacerse su propia idea. Pero en loq ue a mi respeecta le doy esa interpretación.

La película comienza en una estación de tren y al principio, cuando vi a unos mendigos en la estación del metro, pensé que estaban ahí estorbando o algo así. Lo digo sinceramente, y es un poco vergonzoso, pero la película me dio una lección gigante sobre eso, es decir, la manera en que juzgamos cuando no tenemos ni idea de lo que atraviesan otras personas.

Mientras la veía, sentía la desesperación de los personajes, cómo les sucedían situaciones adversa una tras otra, adversidades de las que no podían escapar. Sobre todo por las circuntancias por las que atravesaban, donde se refleja un mundo de caos y destrucción debido a la guerra que enfrentaba el país.

El personaje principal es un chico que pierde a sus papás y, de repente, le toca cuidar a su hermanita. Él hace lo imposible para que ella no sufra ni se dé cuenta de lo trágico que es todo su mundo alrededor.

Recorren un montón de lugares buscando algo de comer y dónde quedarse. Una tía los ayuda un por un tiempo, pero como la cosa se pone peor por la guerra y todo ese ambiente horrible en el país, la tía se pone muy mal humorada. Les empieza a exigir más de la cuenta y hasta los trata mal, incluso llegando a las ofensas.

Por eso, el chico al darse cuenta de que no podía hacer nada y de todo ese maltrato llega un momento que dice: "hasta aquí" y se va con su hermana a vivir en una cueva. Pasan muchísimas cosas malas. Llega un momento donde la desesperación por darle de comer a su hermana lo obliga a hacer cosas que nunca hubiera hecho, como robar y estafar.

Mientras veía la película, sentía la desesperación del chico como si la estuviera viviendo yo. Te da una impotencia tremenda pensar que esas situaciones pasaron de verdad por culpa de guerra que le cambian la vida a todos los que se ebfrentan a ese problema.

Es un anime excelente que me dejó pensando mucho. Investigué un poco sobre la época y el contexto social que muestra. Me enseñó que las cosas no son siempre lo que parecen y que a veces, para sobrevivir, la gente tiene que tomar decisiones que cambian sus vidas. Al final, solo queda entender que a veces se hace lo necesario para sobrevivir.
