Hello to everyone in this community and fellow sewing enthusiasts! In past blog posts, I've mentioned that every time I visit my favorite fabric store, I try to buy at least a meter of fabric, so I've gradually accumulated more than I already have. Although, I feel like there's never enough fabric for all the creative projects I have in mind, haha. But since I don't have much space and I'd like to keep acquiring materials, I've been making pieces little by little, and today's project is quite special to me because it's my favorite color 💚

The fabric I bought is a type of chiffon (a semi-transparent fabric), and its vibrant green color immediately captivated me. At first, I planned to make a dress or something simple with it, but then the idea of ​​sewing a shirt took hold, so I went for it.

However, since the fabric was semi-transparent, it occurred to me that I could add an extra piece of Dacron fabric so I could wear it without showing too much, haha. I already had the front and back pieces cut from a discarded project, so I decided to recycle them (one of my favorite things to do). Once I sewed the darts marked on the fabric, I used them as a pattern to cut the chiffon.

After cutting the other pieces, I proceeded to sew them to the lining, going all the way around the edge. Then, I sewed where the buttonholes and buttons would go, and joined the front and back pieces at the shoulders. It's worth mentioning that I ironed the piece after each seam.

For the sleeves, I decided to make them flared. I only cut the pieces from chiffon fabric, as I didn't think it was necessary to add lining fabric (and I didn't have any more dacron in that shade, haha). I folded over the edge of each sleeve and sewed a straight stitch. Then, I sewed each sleeve to the shirt piece.

Next, I closed the shirt on both sides with a straight stitch and a safety stitch all the way around the edge with a zigzag pattern. I was so pleased with how nice the stitching looked in this area that I took a picture for posterity, haha. Once the shirt was closed, I hemmed the bottom.

I wasn't entirely sure what kind of collar to use, so in the end, I chose a simple one. I measured the shirt so I could draw a pattern on paper to use as a template. Once I cut it out of fabric, I sewed and ironed it before sewing it onto the shirt, along with the label I usually attach to all the pieces I make from scratch.

To make the buttonholes and sew on the buttons, I used the presser feet that came with my sewing machine, and they really do a wonderful job. Not only do they look nice, but it's also a quick process. Since I wanted to do something different with the collar, I hand-embroidered some beads along one side and added a small snap fastener to close it completely.

And so, the colorful shirt was finished! ✨ I fell in love with the color from the very first moment, and after making the piece, it made me think of a style of dress called "Dreamcore" or "Clowncore," where the use of bright and eye-catching colors is common. I remember that when I bought the fabric, my family wasn't convinced, but once they saw the finished garment, they loved it! That made me feel like it was a successful project! 💚

The shirt will be for sale, but I wouldn't have a problem adding it to my wardrobe anyway, haha. In fact, if I see the fabric again, I'd love to buy more and make a dress with colorful sleeves and a collar! It would be amazing to see and wear! 💚

¡Hola a todos los integrantes de esta comunidad y amantes de la costura! En blogs pasados he comentado que cada vez que visito mi centro textil favorito, procuro llevarme así sea un metro de tela, por lo que he ido poco a poco acumulando más tela de la que ya tengo. Aunque, considero que nunca es suficiente tela para tantos proyectos creativos que tengo en mente jaja pero, como no cuento con mucho espacio y me gustaría seguir adquiriendo material, he ido elaborando piezas poco a poco y la del día de hoy, es bastante especial para mí, ya que es de mi color favorito 💚

La tela que compre, es un tipo de Chiffon (tela semitransparente) y su color verde vibrante, me capturó de inmediato. Al principio, tenía pensado elaborar un vestido o algo sencillo con ella, pero se me metió en la cabeza la posibilidad de coser una camisa y aposté por ello.

Sin embargo, como la tela era semitransparente, se me ocurrió que podía colocarle una pieza extra de tela en Dacron, para poder usarla sin mostrar tanto jaja Ya tenía cortadas las piezas delanteras y trasera de un proyecto descartado, así que pensé en reciclarlo (una de mis cosas favoritas), así que, una vez que cosí las pinzas que tenía marcada la tela, usé las mismas como patrón para cortar la tela Chiffon.

Tras cortar las otras piezas, procedí a coserlas con el forro, pasando por todo el borde. Luego, cosí en la parte en donde irían los ojales y los botones, así como uní las piezas delantero y trasero desde la parte de los hombros. Cabe mencionar que tras cada costura realizada, planchaba la pieza.

Para las mangas, decidí hacerlas acampanadas. Sólo corté las piezas en tela Chiffon, ya que no consideré necesario añadirle tela de forro (y tampoco tenía más tela dacron de ese tono jaja). Hice un doblez en el borde de cada manga, pasando una costura recta. Seguidamente, cosí cada manga a la pieza de la camisa.

Después, cerré la camisa por ambos laterales, con costura recta y otra de seguridad por todo el borde con motivo de zig zag. Quedé muy satisfecha al verificar que la costura me había quedado tan bonita en esta parte que lo fotografíe para la posteridad jaja Ya teniendo la camisa cerrada, le hice un dobladillo en la parte inferior.

No estaba muy segura sobre el tipo de cuello que le colocaría, así que al final, escogí un cuello simple. Tomé la medida de la camisa para poder dibujar un patrón en un papel que me sirviera de molde. Una vez que lo corté en tela, lo cosí y planché para después, coserlo a la camisa, junto a la etiqueta que suelo colocar en todas las piezas que elaboro desde cero.

Para realizar los ojales y coser los botones, utilicé los pies de máquina que trae mi máquina de coser y que realmente, hacen la labor una maravilla. No solamente quedan lindos, sino que es un proceso rápido. Como quería hacer algo distinto con el cuello, le borde a mano algunas mostacillas en un costado e hice que para cerrarlo del todo, se utilice un pequeño botón a presión.

De esta forma, la camisa colorida, estuvo lista ✨ El color me enamoró desde el primero momento y tras elaborar la pieza, me hace pensar en un estilo de vestir llamado "Dreamcore" o el "Clowncore", es donde es habitual el uso de colores chillones y llamativos. Recuerdo que cuando compré la tela, mis familiares no estuvieron convencidos con ella, pero una vez que vieron la prenda terminada, la amaron ¡Eso me hizo sentir que fue un trabajo exitoso! 💚

La camisa estará a la venta, pero cualquier cosa, no tendría problema en terminar añadiéndola a mi guardarropa jaja de hecho, si vuelvo a ver la tela, me gustaría comprar más y elaborar un vestido con las mangas y cuello de colores ¡Sería algo alucinante de ver y usar! 💚
