TW Steel MS45 Maverick

I mentioned, in my last post, that a TW Steel MS45 was a watch on my hit list, well:

Isn't it a beauty? The face is 45 millimetres, and the crown adds another 5. It's not the biggest watch out there, but it's sizeable.

The case is anodised black steel and the strap is good sturdy leather with studs and stitching for added strength. It is a substantial time piece on the wrist.

The mechanism is Seiko's NH35A, and is visible through a glass back:

THe NH35A has been in production since about 2011 and is one of the most commonly used by watch manufacturers looking for basic reliability. It operates at 21,600 bpm, or 3 hertz, has a power reserve of up to 41 hours when fully wound, and provides date, hours, minutes, and seconds. The movement is so commonly used that there will be some watch owners who are unaware that below the face of their dateless watch, there is the facility to have the date.

Back to this watch. While designated MS45 the model also has a name, Maverick, and models both second-hand and new can be found under that name.

There are some nice design features on the watch. I've already mentioned the black anodised steel case. The clear and uncluttered face uses cream as the primary color and it works well against the black which is also used for the hour markers lettering, and numbers. Beyond that the strap has a swift release function - you can see the levers for it in the pictures of the rear of the watch - which makes removal easy if you want to put on a new strap, or just an alternate.

The only bugbear I have is the strap being on the short side. As you can see below it is on it's final hole and the tail barely reaches into the fixed loop, the free loop is mere decoration. Considering the size of the watch I would have thought they would have factored in potential wearers also having large wrists.

Having achieved one of my early goal watches, will it stay in the collection? Unless someone buys it, yes.

I also like a watch with an easy to read, don't need my glasses or a magnifying glass face. This looks like a solid build and one that will stand the test of time. Congrats and enjoy...or if it sells, congrats on the sale.
