Euros & Copa América reportage - a review

Eighty-three games of football between 14th June and 14th July is a fair chunk of football.

I'm proud I managed to produce a match report for each one across 57 posts. In truth I feel a little like the ball in the picture - kinda scuffed and a little deflated.

Before diving in I want to highlight two other folks who have done things I've found interesting over the Euros:

  • @relf87 ran a CHATGP vs META AI prediction competition. I'm not a fan of the inclusion of these algorithms into absolutely everything, but I thought this was a great experiment and showed that the programs are about as good as a decent pundit. They barely did better than me.

I'll be watching out for future such tests.

  • @blanchy provided a prediction competition for us HIVERS. With keeping up to date with my own posts I kept forgetting to put my predictions in so was quickly out of the running, but congratulations to @michael87 on his victory.

Now on to the asking for help side of my post.

The famous line from 'Field of Dreams' is 'If you build it he will come.' These days the 'he' is generally replaced with 'they' and it was on this basis I started the coverage I did - including that of the T20 World Cup.

Only, very few people did come. There were one or two regulars, but my output just never connected more widely with any readers.

I'm definitely having a sport reporting break for a few weeks but come the start of the new EPL season in August, and then Champions League in September, I'll be doing match reports of some type. It'll maybe be just for my team, Aston Villa, or a wider weekly round-up.

So, folks, tell me what you want to see and what I missed with the coverage of the two cups.

please
