The Lazy Champorado (Chocolate Porridge)

It was recently reported in the local news that Philippines will be experiencing La Niña beginning September. I just wish the weather will be good when I go somewhere. Anyway, it is a given that weather will be slightly cool during rainy season, so let me share a lazy but equally sweet and good porridge you can enjoy during this coming bed weather season.

During my doomscrolling session, I came across a video of someone experimenting a chocolate porridge by using a chocolate drink as its flavoring. The people in the video were surprised by how it turned out because it tasted good, according to them. I'm really curious that I can't wait to try it sooner because it's just two ingredients. Very easy peasy!

Of course, the traditional way of making Champorado or Chocolate Porridge is by using "tablea". It's roasted and grounded cacao beans molded into the shape of a tablet. And using tablea for champorado is definitely the best.

Wait, something tells me that this new trend of using chocolate drink could be the Gen Z version. However, it seems like the people on that video were millenials. Lmao!

💁🏻‍♀️ Here's What You'll Need 📝

Okay, enough with my rambling. Listen because you only need three ingredients.

✨️ ✨️ ✨️
One. Glutinous rice. (Just half a cup.)
Two. Chocolate Drink. (Two cups.)
Three. Fresh milk.
✨️ ✨️ ✨️

🍫 Let's Start!!! 🥣

1.) First, wash the glutinous rice at least 3 times and put into a pot.

2.) Measure two cups of chocolate drink and pour into the pot.

3.) Stir before putting the lid. Turn on the stove and set the heat to medium.

4.) Stir occasionally or every 5 minutes so the rice doesn't get burned or stuck at the bottom. I cooked mine for 15 minutes. You know it's already good to serve when the rice turns soft and the consistency of the porridge becomes thick.

AND IT'S DONE!!! ✨️✨️✨️

Pour into a bowl and add some chocolate drink and even milk!

I used (two) 250ml tetra packs of chocolate drink. One tetra pack is a bit more than a cup so I still have a little left which I poured on my bowl later on along with some milk.

Mix the porridge and it's time to devour!

Well, I must say it's good! For someone like me who's intimidated to make a chocolate porridge with tablea, trying this lazy hack feels like I can survive the wilderness of life. Lol!

This recipe yields two servings. I was really amazed that it's possible to make champorado out of a chocolate drink. Hopefully, I could make one with tablea next time!

Thanks for reading! 💚

Lazy champorado (Chocolate Porridge) for the win! Using a chocolate drink is super easy. I agree that nothing beats the classic tablea flavor. Still, I’m tempted to try this quick version too.🤗
