My Simple Birthday Celebration

Yep, I turned another year older last week. Sorry, I only got back now. I've been trying my best to recover fast from my cough.

Honestly, I prefer a simple celebration this year. Last year, I was planning to have the cake I have been dreaming to taste but plans changed. Instead of that cake, I made a peach cheesecake in cupcake sizes to give my friends.

Unfortunately, our meeting was canceled last minute. I made quite a lot so I decided to just visit one of my friends who lives in the same town late in the afternoon and gave her cupcakes.

The recipe is the same as the Strawberry Cheesecake I made earlier this month. You only have to replace the strawberries with peaches.

Before delivering the cupcakes to my friend, I dropped by the chapel to thank for another year completed and also pray for my mama. Then I walked to the wet market to purchase some lemon and ginger for my cough.

It was already getting dark when I rode a tricycle going to my friend's house. It's not that far so it was alright for me to deliver the food.

I literally just handed the gift and had a 30-second chit chat before going back to the tricyle and left. My friend also couldn't stay long outside because she was taking care of her sick child.

I asked the tricycle driver to drop me off at the grilled milk fish vendors next. Surprsingly, I the driver only charged Php60 or about $1 USD. I think he overheard my friend greeting me a happy birthday and so he also greeted me before he left. Lol.

One of the foods I've been craving lately was the grilled bangus (milk fish) stuffed with lots of tomatoes and free fish sauce and calamansi (lime). The vendor asked me if I want the boneless milk fish or not. Of course, I chose the boneless. I love grilled milk fish but removing the bones while eating is such a hassle. I'm happy they offer boneless grilled milk fish now. This one costs Php 135 or around $2.33 USD.

The vendor also gave me a free Kaleskes soup. I thought she mistakenly gave it to me but she explained that it was a freebie for every grilled milk fish. This was my first time tasting the soup as I don't eat this dish. Kaleskes is a soup dish made of carabao innards originating from Dagupan City here in our province. The soup tastes okay. Maybe I'll give it a 7/10.

Not far from the grilled milk fish vendors were the roasted chicken vendors. I am also craving this food for a while now so I walked to the store where my family would always buy from.

One whole roasted chicken now costs Php270 or $4.66 USD. Back in the day it only costs Php100 and the line was really long. We literally have to wait a couple of minutes to purchase one. Today, people only flock to buy from them on special occasions. Their chicken still tastes good as always and their roasted chickens are now placed in this laminated food box. The vendors also looked younger. Maybe those people were relatives of the owner being trained to manage the business.

Oh, I also made a quick birthday art. It's just a little boost and reminder for me that I can turn my dreams into reality.

That's how I celebrated my birthday. Hopefully, this is finally the year that I get to start those goals I've been meaning to do.
