Christmas at The Cemetery and Repainting The Headstone
Hello! It was a very productive day for me today. There are lots of things I wish to accomplish before the month ends and I'm positive that I can do it if I resist doom scrolling. Lol.
Okay, so I still have few holiday posts left and one of which is visiting our mama's grave. As much as possible, we don't want her to feel forgotten even during holidays because back when she was still alive, it was her who was always in-charge to prepare holiday foods for the family.

We went early morning as usual. It's nice to see the huge Christmas tree at the roundabout. The little trees were also decorated into little Christmas trees. So cute.

And because my brother got traumatized with the flooded corner when we used the main entrance of the cemetery, he always chose this underconstructed back entrance. Well, we saw some little progress of the construction compared back to November.

We set up the chairs and tables. I found that it's easier if I prepare the foods directly on the plates and just wrap it with cling wrap before bringing it to the cemetery. Just remove the cling wrap and it's ready to eat! Less things on the table and no containers to bring home and wash.

We always prepare mama's candle, flowers, foods, and drinks before we start eating and chatting with our sister. And as you can see here, the paint on mama's grave was already faded. We're going to repaint that later!

So here's my plate. The creamy spinach and chicken lasagna, ham, a slice of queso de bola, mango, and ube roll cake. I called my sister and we chatted as we ate.

On the middle of our conversation, we saw again this tractor passing by the area. I think our mama have recognized our presence and wanted to let us know.

After eating, I set the things on top of mama's grave on the side and cleaned the headstone. I waited for it to dry and began painting over the faded painting. NatNat arrived this time and I stopped painting to introduce him to my brother and to my sister on the phone. I think they were having a good conversation while I was busy painting. Lol.
Later on, I told them my legs already hurt. I've only painted half so my brother volunteered and continued to paint remaining half. I was laughing because my brother was quicker than me but his painting was sloppy.
We didn't wait long for the paint to dry as the sun was beginning to become harsh and it was windy on the area. Honestly, I'm not sure if the technique on how to properly paint a headstone which I saw online will work. I was praying I could successfully remove the excess paint or else it will messy as if it was painted my a toddler.
I went to check later on and began scrubbing the parts that were already dry. NatNat said he would do it and had me go back on the chair instead.

After washing the scrubbed paint and letting it dry again, I placed back the things on top of the headstone. For privacy, I covered my mama's infor but you can see the border that it is now more black in color compared to the photo I've shared above at the beginning of this post.

My sister was impressed with the outcome and was very happy to see our mama's headstone looked new again. We continued chatting for a few minutes before we left the cemetery. We headed to a mall next and had another meal. This time, with Nat. I think the two guys easily became friends after nerding about cars. Lol.
I hope our mama loved the Christmas foods we brought her!
