Newbie Task 2: Hive guidelines and markdowns.
How is the Hive platform different from other web2 social media platforms?
Hive is a decentralized platform where the network is controlled by the community members. Unlike Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other web2 social media platforms owned by a company or an individual where users have no control over their content, Hive users have complete control over their content. Hive has a high level of transparency and also allows users to earn tokens from using the platform.
Vividly explain the following terminologies in your own understanding
Plagiarism is simply claiming the right to other people’s writeups and/or images rather than citing sources and giving references to the actual owner. Even when there’s approval for use by the actual owner, not citing sources is plagiarism. Plagiarism on Hive could lead to downvotes on that particular post and on future posts.
Vote begging means requesting for upvotes on posts either publicly under the posts on Hive or in people’s DMs on discord channels. Vote begging on Hive isn’t encouraged and might come off as offensive to many users. Instead, making quality posts that will naturally attract upvotes should be practiced.
Post recycling is the editing of already-posted content and reposting as new in same or another community. Creativity over recycling is what’s encouraged.
In what way is the use of tags relevant to your post? Also, do you think that abuse of tags will attract downvotes to your post? If yes, explain. Also list 5 general tags you know.
Tags on posts enhance the reach of the content. Using tags on posts allows the post to have a wider reach and raises the potential of being seen by a wider audience. In case of searches related to the writeup, the tags allow it to be seen by the searcher.
Tags abuse can attract downvotes in cases where the writer uses a tag restricted to a community. The post can get downvoted as it might be seen as irrelevant to the tag or the community. So, yes. Tags abuse can attract downvotes.
Some general tags include:
• Vyb,
• Hiveengine
• Pimp
• Proofofbrain
• Neoxian
The little edits you see in this write up is a result of last week’s training on markdowns, which is the application of little codes to enhance the beauty of the write up. Thanks to the organisers of the Newbie initiative for making it easy to navigate the platform while preventing the attraction of the Hive watcher’s anger.
And, thank you very much for reading through my post today.
