Herbs performing wonders since '83.

This is not a tea mix, but a mix of a combo of herbs boiled together to serve a purpose.

I grew up in a town where for every ailment, there are herbs to counter them. Cough was my best pal growing up, and I remember using bitter kola and honey to fight it. The bitter kola was usually grounded and then mixed in a jar containing little honey and then, it's taken at interval of three hours daily until the cough disappeared.

According to research, bitter Kola is effective against common cold, and can combat bacterial and viral infections if eaten at an early stage of the infection. I don't know about this, but one thing I've used it to fight against strongly was cough, and it works everytime. Honey? It's a general market. I had access to unadulterated honey because my dad owned an apiary. So, the medication was always within reach.

Another medication I use against cough is sugar and palm oil mix. Don't ask me how the combo works, because I have no answer too. But, one thing I know for sure is that when bitter kola and honey are far from reach, I switch to palm oil and sugar mix, and it has worked all the time I've used it.

The picture on the first slide is a mix of lemon grass, lime, henna leaves, and one other leaf that I don't remember the name. This combination fights strongly against malaria and typhoid, no matter the strength of the infection. My dad would harvest these leaves, dry them, and distribute to his children. This has been my first aid anytime I felt the presence of common cold or flu. Ah ah. It's worked all the time and it still works till now.

This is Chanca Piedra, another remedy to flu. According to research, it is also effective against digestive disorders, and protects the liver and kidney source

Of the many things I had wanted to be in my life, botany was an important one. Why? I wanted to study these plants, their scientific constituent, and uses, but I opted out for a reason I do not understand up till now. Probably because of the scientific names. Eh eh.

I remember having ulcer crisis, and someone brought a mix of unripe pawpaw soaked in water for days, and asked me to drink it. Well, I did and I felt an instant relief, however, my ulcer is still there. This is to say that this mix is not a permanent remedy to ulcer. It's just like antacid that gives relief to the pains.

Do you have stomach ache, I present to you, African Basil leaves juice. Just harvest some mature Bassil leaves, rinse properly, and squeeze out the juice from it. That's the relief from the stomach ache. Bitterleaf also works the same.

One of my friends is currently battling haemorrhoids, and the medications performing the magic healing now are herbs. I don't know the combo though. There are experts and old botanists that learnt the secrets of these herbs from their aged parents and are now passing it down to us. Even though I still don't know it all, the little I know and that I've used have worked.

I remember sometimes when my blood pressure was low. Fluted pumpkin leaves juice with milk was what I used, and it worked wonders. Even though it took a while before I noticed the changes, but it worked.

Do I like to take herbs? Oh yes, I do, even though they are bitter, they work. I grew up in a community where that's what we used before even remembering to visit the hospital. That's if we would visit any at all. But one thing thats needed to do now is to find a means of measuring the quantity needed instead of having to take them until they're exhausted.

This is my entry to #InLeoprompt for day 12.
