Ecstasy and fulfillment
Sometimes, it feels like your efforts to achieve a set goal is going unseen, however, all it takes is a continuous push to keep up the efforts, tirelessly, taking breaks when needed and then starting over or picking it up from where you paused.
Early this year, I officially started working for a brand as a social media manager. It was my first job as a social media manager, and I didn’t plan to make mistakes. The brand’s product is not something common, and it’s not an edible product, so there was an extra effort needed into the marketing. I researched and did all I could to ensure the success of this product and the brand, however, everything seemed like a cycle.
I consulted my friend who is an expert and is more experienced and he gave me some tricks to use. Well, I did, and it was the same thing. I think they used to say that repeating the same procedures at different times would not yield any different result. Then, why would the many different methods I had tried not yield any new result? I asked myself out of frustration one day.
Every day, I lived in fear of getting laid off suddenly because I wasn’t meeting the target. So, the more I thought of this, the more I tried to make it better.
Prior to working with this brand, I used to freelance as a mobile video editor and voice over artist for brands. So, I used those skills to create an ad for this brand and then, boom! It reached about 500k people organically. I remember my boss called me one day after answering many calls to ask me what exactly I did differently. He saw the results and he was shocked at the massive calls and inquiries, however, there was no sale, just inquiries.
Again, I was back to asking questions and wondering what happened once again. This time, the frustration and fears came from both my boss and me. He was asking me questions, and I was asking myself deeper questions. At some point, I was frustrated and took a break off the internet, but I couldn’t do that for long because I needed to create posts, and answer questions. So, I returned back online.
One day, I got a call from my boss yet again. He had received many calls and there were appointments and payments. He said, “what did you do again? I’ve been receiving calls and credit alerts”. It felt so good that my efforts were yielding the results I’ve anticipated after a very long time.
Yesterday, my boss sent me a text. His company had just gotten a deal that came directly from a state governor in my country, and according to him, the governor saw his business when he was scrolling through Instagram. In his words, “I didn’t know our page has so much visibility until this”. This is the moment for me.
The moment of fulfillment. The moment to be hailed and compensated for doing one of the many things I do and doing it well. For having sleepless nights on how to do better and make the page better. For giving it my all even when it seemed like I was not getting any result. For always trying different methods even when it felt like I was out of ideas. After all those efforts, it paid off in the end.
This is to tell you that even though it’s not looking like it now, putting maximum efforts in doing a task will one day pay off. Even though it’s frustrating to not get the desired result now. One day, the result will come, and just like I feel fulfilled right now, you will feel the fulfilment and excitement too.
