Dear Dad,

I remember the first time I saw you in pains, and the reason was that I was in pain because of my broken arm. I remember the pains written all over you because I was screaming at the top of my voice when my arm was getting treated. I remember you having sleepless nights to be sure I had good night's rest, and without having much sleep, you wake up the next morning, and off you went to work again. I saw all those, and I knew how much you love me.

The first time I saw you shed a tear, and yet it was for me again. I remember jerking so badly on the hospital bed, thinking I was jerking to heaven, but you stood strongly in prayers so, the heavens sent me back to you. I remember you called your family members to stand in prayers for your dear daughter because you didn't understand what was happening to her. I remember you wiping your tears just after I was balanced once again, and I could look at you. I remember asking for water and you begging the doctor to find me a solution since I couldn't drink for the time being. I remember you watching over me while I slept peacefully on the hospital bed. Those moments are etched in my memory and it's going to be there for life, as a reminder that you are my guardian.

My siblings and I see all that you went through to make sure we went to school. We knew the times you got disappointed by those you trusted and the pains you went through for all of those times. We knew the sadness in your voice when thieves visited your farm multiple times to destroy your income source, yet you held all those in without saying anything to us, just so that we would not be worried. Thanks for being such a strong man for us, dad.

Dad, for the many times you've smiled, I've always wished that those beautiful white beards on your face do not grow whiter because it's a sign that old age is fast approaching. I realized that even though I love the fine lines of wrinkles on your face, it scares me so much that you're getting older, and I'm yet to show you the world. You're yet to see many beautiful things I plan to show you because I don't have the capacity yet, so, can you just stop aging for some time? Oh, I wish that would be possible.

Dad, we saw your sacrifices, all of it. We saw how you stood strong even when you should be down. We saw and know everything, but we pretend not to see because you'll be worried that we found out. Dad, thank you so much for being our hero.

Dad, do you know that I've inherited your strictness? Do you know that I've inherited your emotional strength, even though I unintentionally left out the physical part of the strength. Do you know that a lot of my friends said I resemble you damning the complexion differences? There are many things you taught us and those trainings have been helping us so much as we navigate life. Thank you for being such a great man, dad.

Dad, thank you for teaching us empathy. Thank you for instilling the act of kindness in us. Thank you for teaching us the right way to live, and very importantly, thank you for being a model to us.

And if there's another life, dad, I'll choose you over and again to be my dad.

Happy Father's day, dad. I love you so much.

Yours in love,
Your beautiful daughter.
