That Time Wasted Was a Blessing

The day I was going for an interview was just the very day I can never live to forget. It's a day that was filled up with numerous experiences. I thought I had wasted a lot of time out there, not knowing that it was a blessing in disguise.

How it happened:
I was called for an interview last year this same period, I guess towards the end of August. I needed a job during this period. I had searched all round after resigning from my initial job that was not paying well. I had worked in this place for years without showing tangible things I had worked for. I never wanted to leave, but then I was forced to leave just because of the little pay they were paying me. I could not account for something tangible I had worked for over the years of working with this school. I guess it was a waste of time over the years, but also am experience gained.

So, on this fateful day, I was called for an interview and was told to arrive at exactly 9 am. I was so glad to have received the message. A day to that very day I began to search for all my documents as it was part of the criteria in the message I received. I searched and searched through all my files just to get one document I had photocopied, but could not see it. I concluded that I would go out to get a copy from the original copy with me. It was a Sunday, and I was not too sure if those computer centres would open. I just decided to go, but then I was shocked that none of them opened shop. I just left it that way and decided to have it done whenever I get closer to the venue.

It was a Monday and I got prepared earlier than I thought just to get there on time. When it was a few minutes to six, I was set and went straight to the bus stop. It was hell for me to see a vehicle going in that direction. The first vehicle I saw called an amount which was far too high. Another one I saw was lesser, but then the time was not in my favor. I got to the park at exactly 6:30 AM, but got a vehicle when it was 7:50 am. I knew I was done for it that day because I was so sure I was not going to get to the school by 8:50 am. On our way, the back tyre vehicle got deflated. The driver had to come down just to fix in another tyre. We spent a lot of time at that moment.

After another 30 minutes drive, the vehicle began to jerk. I was mad and knew I was not going to make it to the interview. I was very sure I had missed that opportunity. The driver checked and saw that there was a little engine oil in his car. This strongly suggested that he did not gauge his car while leaving his house. This was a double wahala which I knew would affect me greatly.

I finally got to the venue by 10:30 AM. I wanted to go back home, but something told me to still proceed to the venue. I stood in the junction for more than 20 mins contemplate on whether to go back home or to still make it to the venue. After too many thoughts, I just took the little courage and faith I had and went inside the school compound. Getting to the principal office, they were still preparing questions for me. Luckily for me, I was the only one present. I quickly asked one of the teachers if I can make a copy of a credential in the school. This was how I was freed from that aspect.

They gave me questions related to my field, Mathematics, and physics. I was so glad, but then was still restless of the terrible journey I had. Out of the 12 questions, I was asked to answer 8 which I did answer. I did the whole of the objective questions. The same goes to the physics question. They gave me a lesson-note to write. I wrote the lesson note neatly without wasting of any time. I finished up on time, even with the hectic journey.

In the end, the interview turned out to favor me greatly. I was given the job. So, with that delay, it was still a blessing.

Wow wow wow.....

Even though the journey seemed somehow, still it led to your breakthrough.
The delays and all actually worked in your favor.

Of a truth, some setbacks are a stepping stone to greater blessings.

Thanks for sharing.

That's how blessings work. It's quite mysterious and sometimes amazes us, even though there's a little bit of apprehension at first.

I was glad to learn that you got the job.

But sincerely, it is always rare to have this kind of challenges and still land the job.

Please take it as a duty to start preparing for your documents for an interview three to two days before the d day.

Also, it is not mainly advisable for one to resign from a current role before seeking for another

You can always navigate your way while on your current duty to and a job. Then honourably resign.

What if you have some pressing needs to attend to at the period after your resignation. It would have put you under serious quagmire.

In all, its a learning in disguise.

Start on time.
