After the War
The two quarters who have been fighting for the kingship position were in the grief of their lost souls in the war.
“How are we going to come back together as one after all these grievances left in these two Quarters in our community?” Jesse asked casually.
“It's barely two weeks after the dispute, and the Ode Quarters are still out there on the run”, Karo said as they stood in surprise of what had happened.
This community has been in a state of confusion while the Ora Quarter has been enjoying as they thought the war was over. Meanwhile, Ode Quarter has been the ones enjoying the power over the years. The seating king who have been sent out was the worst king in the history of the land. He would rather not leave the seat even though his tenor has expired. He just wanted to remain the seating king by force. In this kingdom, the kingship is always rotated every 10 years and this is the 12th year of the reign of King Zubi, from the Ode Quarter. Everyone has been raising a deep eyebrow while some were totally supporting their bad deeds.
The dispute broke out as the Ora Quarter decided to take their right. They invaded the Ode Quarter and made them run away from the community. They installed an immediate king of their choice to succeed king Zubi.

“I heard the two Bike men saying some words that kept me running”, Ibe was optimistic as he ran a marathon race to join his other friends, Karo and Jesse who wanted to take off immediately they saw him running. Meanwhile, they were sitting at the front of the market square discussing their security, now another word came up again.
“What do they say?” Karo asked as Jesse opened his ears to listen critically to what Ibe had to say.
“They said they wanted to wash their Bike when they saw some human parts floating on the water from a distance. After they saw this, they concluded that the Ode Quarters who had been on the run had slaughtered some able men and left them floating on the top of the water”, Ibe said as his breath was just moving up and down coupled with his fast heartbeat.
“What? This may be true”, the other two friends, Jesse and Karo shouted and took off as they shouted along the street: “the Ode Quarters have arrived and are killing the Ora Quarter members. We need to flee from this community”, they both shouted as they took heel. Others who heard spread the news to the other part of the community, and this got to the Ora Quarter. The king called his members and his secret men to investigate the truthfulness of what is flying in the air. He also asked the town crier to announce to every part of the community, to keep their eyes open. He also said to the people to come to his palace for an urgent meeting. Everyone gathered in the community square alongside the King.
“My people, please, be calm. I will take care of this issue flying in the air. I have sent my special guards to see to the truthfulness of this rumour", The king said.
Everyone opened their eyes as they saluted the king, while those left in the Ode Quarter were just in surprise as they had no idea of what was going on.
The whole community was risking as everyone tried to run for their lives while some left for other communities to hide just to save their heads.
Those that were sent by the king came back as they searched everywhere without seeing the traces of anyone or any dead bodies floating on the top of the river. The river is not the type that can float too fast.
The news got to the corners of the community, both in the two unfriendly quarters. Jesse and Karo were summoned by the present king. “Where did you get the information about the floating dead bodies?” The king asked in anger. These two began to shake and answered: “Ibe said it to us”Jesse replied as his voice was shaking.
The king summoned Ibe who confessed that he heard it from two strange bike men who he could not recognize. He was threatened severely, and so he opened up that he did not see anyone, and he was just tricking his colleague. “I did not know it would turn out to be this way”, he said.
The king had to stretch him down and ask his boys to give him some lashes and also give Ibe serious punishment, while others were freed.
This story shows how fear and rumors can destroy what war has already damaged. One careless lie nearly broke a community further. Healing takes truth, unity, and leadership that listens. Powerful reminder of how fragile peace can be. Well told.
I love the way you directed this storyline. it was catchy, and one would think bodies were floating on the top of the water. sometimes we just need to run from fake news carriers.
