It was premier League delight for this weekend. As per usual, we are being treated to the finest of professional club football again, and today we will be diving into the early kickoff for match week 34.

CHE Vs EVE

An early kick off at Stamford Bridge kick started game week 34 with a blues clash, as Enzo Maresca's team welcomed the toffees to the bridge. It was all to play for for Chelsea as they continue to fight for a Uefa champions League spot. The game started off with Chelsea dominating proceedings in the early stages. The blues finally made breakthrough in the 27th minute with a well drilled strike from Nicolas Jackson to end his 12 games goal drought. A clear out from Jordan Pickford found Beto who cheaply lost the ball to chalobah, and then a simple pass from Enzo Fernandez found Jackson who made no mistake. It was also the Senegalese first goal from outside the box. The blues also come close to doubling their tally, with Noni Madueke drawing two good saves from Jordan Pickford. The second half was a completely different story as the Toffees came out fighting, earning their first shot on target from a well struck shot from Beto, to draw a decent save from Robert Sanchez who was having a rather quiet evening up until then. The introduction of Dwight McNeil, Youssef Chermiti and Ashley Young also boosted momentum as Enzo Maresca and all Chelsea faithfuls endured a nervy final minutes. Nicolas Jacksons strike earned all three points for the blues to further strengthen their claims for champions League football. For David Moyes and his boys, the result means they are now winless in their last 30 league trips to Chelsea, drawing 13 times and losing 17 in that run. Struggling.

TOP PERFORMERS

  • Robert Sanchez - Robby has had his fair share of criticisms in a Chelsea shirt, and sometimes rightly so as his decision making can sometimes leave much to be desired, but today he showed up for his team when they needed him, with three good saves to keep the score line at 1-0. Earning him the player of the match award.

  • Enzo Fernandez - The young Argentinian continues to prove his worth, with another solid show in the middle of the park. He also picked up an assist to take his tally for the season to 7. He also was the most fouled (3 times), as he got stuck in. Busy.

  • Levi Collwill - the young Englishman has had his critics, but he put up a fine display today to help his team to a clean sheet.

A great showing from the blues, albeit scrappy but a much needed 3 points for their UEFA Champions League ambitions. It only gets tougher from here, as Newcastle, Liverpool, Manchester United and Nottingham Forest are their final games of the season.
