Northern House Wren

Feeding

Northern House Wren. Photographed in Salisbury, Vermont.

Proud owner

I got a new phone and decided to try out the camera on the wren nesting in one of my birdhouses.

Looking out

I'm liking the camera. Its advertised specs are 5x optical zoom and 25x digital zoom.

Looking up

Not sure about the quality of the digital zoom but at 5x it looks good.

Close up

So since this is a birding community... the northern house wren is very common in most of North America. We have had a nesting pair in this house the last couple of years. We built houses for blue birds but our yard draws more wrens and flycatchers. Maybe I need to put out some mealworms to pull in some bluebirds. Ironically enough I think the wren in this photo has a mealworm!

I have wrens nesting in my bluebird house too! I haven't seen a bluebird all year, so wrens are not unwelcome!

Same here. I don't mind the wrens. Fun to have the activity in the birdhouses. Busy building, feeding, chirping, all fun to have

Good morning, dear friend @steven-patrick, how are you?

How great that this beautiful bird is staying in one of your birdhouses.

Beautiful shots, very timely bringing food for its young.

Have a beautiful day.

Ah it is a house wren, did you bring it mealworms? Or is that a wild Vermont worm it caught?

Its a wild one. I only provide room the wrens are responsible for their own meals 🙂
